Worst quarterback performance you can remember seeing

Weinke wasn't even the worst QB that started in 2001.

Also I'm old enough to remember this predecessor board begging for Weinke to start over Delhomme.

Absolutely nailed this. It all stemmed from a game in Detroit where Jake was shaky, got almost murdered by RW Mcquarters and Weinke came on in relief to lead a game winning drive where he simply passed to ball to Ricky Proehl every time he dropped back and the Lions didn't bother to cover him.

Those people felt like they were vindicated in 2006 when Jake was hurt and Weinke got the starting job all to himself against the Giants. He managed to throw for 423 yards which was the Panthers all time record for a long time....but did that by throwing 61 passes, throwing 3 picks and ultimately scoring 13 points in a 2 TD loss. Even though most people could see that the yardage was just an empty calorie job, you had those same people saying "See, this guy throws a catchable ball!"

i will never forget the jake game

my college girlfriend had just broken up with me and i was fuging numb. I don't know if I could have felt happiness that night, but I know I couldn't feel any more pain.

panthers open it up by running 80 yards on like four plays and score a TD, then Cards come RIGHT back and at that moment, even before jake started, i knew we were fuged. I saw the cards had figured something out and I knew Fox wouldn't adjust to it. It of course turned out they were moving Fitzgerald all over the line and fox was just like "nah leave Gamble in one place."

then the interceptions and fumbles started.

It was a cold, miserable, rainy night. You could just feel the energy sucked out of the stadium. and all I could do was laugh.

I stayed that entire game because I WANTED TO FEEL

No one was ever worse than Jimmy Clausen. Biggest wuss of a QB I’ve ever seen. I don’t think he ever threw down field past 10 yards even one time.

Worst performance was Delhomme in the playoffs. Fox should have pulled his ass out in the second half and put Moore in. By that time Moore had already shown he was a superior QB in 07. But Fox was far too loyal to his vets.

I was there, too.  What frustrated me as much as the INTs was a receiver, usually Fitzgerald, kept running a crossing route right in front of the linebackers all night and nobody every made a move to stop it.  The QB would dump the pass off to him and he'd end up with 10-20 yards on it damn near every time.

And you're right, as cold and damp as it was that night, it was a miserable experience.
