I get what you are saying meat.

Firing John Fox is risky because we do not know what we are going to get. We know what we have in Foxy and that is a winning team every other season. If we fired him we may return to NFL loser oblivion, we may get an awesome coach or anything in between.

Do you think Jax wishes it had kept Coughlin?

The main thing that determines a head coach's success in this league is his quarterback. He can draft good players at every position, but unless he has a guy out there who can lead his team and make good decisions AND good throws, he'll wallow in mediocrity.

Coughlin was winning in Jax when he had Brunell in his prime. When Brunell started to slide, so did the Jags.

Give Fox a top-10, hell maybe even top-15, quarterback and he'll have you right back in the playoffs.

What you can't seem to do is get over your frothing hatred to actually listen to what people are saying here.

I read it all, and all I see is a complacency to be consistently inconsistent.

But whatever, I am tired of reading the bullshit on Fox and Jake and Hurney. It the same crap this week as last week as next week as next year. You can have the tug fest over it.

First of all, whether his job is on the line or not has nothing to do with opinions here or at the Observer. If concession sales are fine and the team has a shot at the playoffs in December, then he'll probably be back no matter who his quarterback is. Jerry Richardson still makes the decisions around here, and he's been characteristically quiet.

Second of all, Jake Delhomme had a great season in 2008, so there wasn't any urgency to replace him in the offseason. What was important was getting Gamble, Gross, and Peppers back, and that's what they did. Next year I expect another QB on the roster who has a shot at starting someday.

For now, Jake remains the best quarterback on the roster according to Fox's criteria. The minute we get someone who's actually better, expect Fox to play him. Every time we've played someone other than Jake the drop-off has been evident, and as sad as it is he's our best option right now. Fox isn't riding him for better or worse, he's playing the quarterback who gives him the best chance to win. He's made that clear, and he knows a lot more about best chances to win than all the people on this board combined.

I agree with you man...I never said I new everything so why dont you chill out a little bit...I am just saying Jake delhomme last year would have lost us 3-4 more games if it wasnt for steve smith catching those ridiculous thrown balls. If they knew delhomme was on the decline maybe they should have signed a worthy backup or somebody that can compete. They are too complacent with the QB position...

First line is Panthers wins under Fox

Second is Falcons wins in the same period

Third is Bucs

Fourth is Saints.

Then you have the totals, the best year, the worst, and the average

07 11 07 11 08 07 12 | 63 | 12 | 07 | 09

09 05 11 08 07 04 11 | 55 | 11 | 04 | 08

12 07 05 11 04 09 09 | 57 | 12 | 04 | 08

09 08 08 03 10 07 08 | 53 | 10 | 03 | 08

One of these teams is more consistent than the others. Can you spot which one?

Sorry if my tone is too harsh, I don't mean it to be.

Quick question though... When Vinny, Carr, Moore, and Weinke threw those ridiculous balls to Smitty, why didn't he bail them out like he does with Jake? And last year Smitty was missing for the first two games. Were Rosario and King bailing out Jake when they made big grabs to help us win them?

At some point you have to realize that for all his faults, Delhomme has won a lot of games for us. And he showed no sign last year of slowing down until he was asked to carry the team without a running game in the playoffs.
