QB Hits Allowed By Team So Far

Actually you kinda can.  Sorry.

Sometimes Teddy does check it down too soon, pretty much impossible to argue that.  Sometimes the OL gives him a good pocket.  Look no further than the missed TD to DJ against the Vikes.  You are unlikely to see a better pocket . . . ever.

Sometimes our OL looks trash.  Sometimes it looks ok.  This is actually the definition of the problem.  They are inconsistent.  You can't base an offense around a line that can't consistently win their blocks.  I don't think we need a dominant OL to win, but we do need a consistently decent one.  Once you establish that the entire field is attackable by your offense, it makes the opposing defense work much harder to defend you.

I know we like to say Teddy can't throw downfield, and that is the truth.  Unfortunately, the other truth here is that sometimes we just don't block well enough to allow those downfield throws.

We are a young, inconsistent football team.  That's who we are.  I expect it will improve, just not as quick as some would like.

This entire statement is my point.

A greater QB would get greater results behind this line. I've seen Teddy miss reads, throw balls too damned late in the receiver's route, and throw INTs because of trying to be safe which causes his timing to be way off. The line isn't great, but it's been passable. The shine is off Teddy. He had a great opportunity in the palm of his hands, and unfortunately the ball stays in his hands a little too long!

TB has one of the quickest releases in the NFL and is criticized for checking it down and not being able to close out games.

Yet fans can’t see how this relates to our oline along with their inability not being able to close out games.

The oline sucks. They disappear when the game matters. When you have check down king as your qb your Oline should not be ranked 17 lol

That’s if you believe “espn analytics”. I believe what I’ve seen watching 25 years of Panthers football and compared to what we’re used to, the line has been pretty decent this year. Teddy went from decent pocket presence the first three or four games to standing there watching defenders walk their guy right into him.

I mean...I believe them and the methodology versus what a layman is seeing. Are you familiar with what their criteria is for Pass/Run win rates?

No, I’m always dubious of these “advanced analytics”. Especially pff. They’re notoriously bad. It’s entirely possible these are legit and they were middle of the road compared to the rest of the NFL this year. For one, sacks in general seem way down. That graphic about the NFC pro bowl DEs and how Burns is leading with just 8 was surprising. But I also know that if you were comparing the last ten Panthers offensive lines, this year’s would be in the top half. We’ve had some truly putrid OLs lately.

And people keep saying teddy has a quick release and gets the ball out early, I have no idea what games they’re watching. Teddy piddles around back there for eons staring down his first read half the time. Sometimes they’re quick plays and the ball comes out early but often he’s also SO SLOW to make his decisions. He’s been late on his throws many times a game, such as when he was late on that throw to Anderson in the red zone on Saturday. Sometimes I think people are just parroting what they’ve heard the media say about him instead of watching and making up their own kinds.

This isn't PFF, it is based on NFL Next Gen Stats. Basically, if you are able to hold your block for at least 2.5 seconds.

This is a much more accurate way to determine overall line performance that would eliminate scheme.

Also, PFF ratings are subjective.

Hard to believe that stat when watching games. Hell, i had us pegged as the worst line ever.

You have to actually watch the other games lol.

Panthers fans be like. "I've got my one data point and I've come to this conclusion"

Always been that way around here

Teddy is 10th in the NFL in Time To Throw(another NFL Next Gen stat). He does not hold on to the ball long.

I dunno what to tell you dude. Numerous times a game I’m yelling at my tv “get rid of the ***** ball” and yelling about a throw being too late. I guess the quick pass plays don’t stick out to me as much as when he’s supposed to make reads and doing it slowly

I am not saying that some times he doesn't get rid of the ball....but the preponderance of the data shows he gets rid of it pretty quickly
