Joe Thomas is arguably the best LT of all time.

Never made it to the playoffs because they never had a QB.

It's easier to get to the playoffs with an average line than it is with an average QB.

How are people still talking about drafting anything other than QB? Teddy freaking sucks.

I honestly have no idea why people can't comprehend this. If you put prime Joe Thomas on this roster I honestly think we have the same record.

If we can't get Lawrence, I want Sewell. If we get Sewell, and one of the QBs we want is still on the board, then we trade back up to get him. If not, we use our ridiculously high picks in each round to fill out the few gaping holes in our roster, suck with Teddy for one more season, get another round of ridiculously high picks and go get a guy like Sam Howell in 2022.

You can build an offense around either Lawrence or Sewell. Both are that important. A generational talent at LT can make even mediocre QBs look good, but we've seen what awful LTs can do to generational talent at QB.

If you have the chance to draft a franchise QB without having to give up draft picks you take it 10/10 times. Trent Scott has played LT the majority of the season for us and we have still had a decent line and have been in almost every game that we have lost. QB is the deciding factor on winning or not in the NFL.

QB is the most important position on the field....but our OL is so bad that it has kept us from performing well fairly consistently.

Joe Thomas did an AMAZING job keeping all those bad/mediocre QBs upright.

Lot of good that did them.

Joe Thomas was one of the very few first round picks that the Browns didn't squander due to poor drafting. Any decent team could have drafted an elite QB with the picks the Browns squandered over the last 20 years.

Thomas wasnt the issue in that organization. For pretty much his entire career, the Browns were the Bobcats of the NFL. They could have drafted Mahomes and still fugged it all up. They were run that badly.

I don't think anyone disagrees with QB > LT. The real question is if there is more than one elite QB in this draft and if he will be available at 3. There's no point in drafting a QB at 3 just to draft a QB. There are lots of questions about every single QB in this draft and enough questions on all the QB's not named Lawrence that it's not a slam dunk any of them are actually going to even be good in the NFL.

I'd love someone to make a thread on how Sewell compares to the likes of Tristan Wirfs, Jedrick Wills, Becton, Thomas, etc.

What I'm getting at: Wirfs has only allowed a single sack and only 3 penalties in 929 snaps this season and he was super well touted going in.  Only got shuffled into the greater OT crowd because there was a lot of good talent last year (All of who are doing well). Wills has been destroying it.

This generational/best in a decade talk about Sewell seems kind of overblown IMO.  We need to be looking for a QB.  If we're just middling with the Brad Johnson's of the world and every year talking about the following year's draft (I.E. pining for Howell), then we're not going anywhere IMO.

If we land Sewell, then awesome, but I'd take caution in getting to caught up in that hype as much as QB hype.  We need a highly focused look at these QBs to determine if one is the guy we want to take a shot on first and foremost.

There's no such thing as a sure thing. Sewell could just as easily be the next Robert Gallery as he could be the next Orlando Pace.

Insert Zach Wilson's name.

If you can't get Trevor (which we almost certainly can't), you go after Zach Wilson. I'm honestly starting to think Fields is the #4 QB behind both Wilson and Lance.

Same, I've been watching his games and haven't really been impressed. One read guy, who holds the ball way too long. If he gets any pressure he panics and can't make near as accurate of passes on the move as Wilson can. All this with all the talent he has around him is scary to me. Give me Zack WIlson and if Wilson goes #2 I'd be cool with Lance or Sewell or even trade down a few spot and get Surtain or Parsons.
