they basically can't. from the perspective of contracts, they're in a position where they have to win now with ryan and jones.

With a new coach and GM Coming in, you never know.  They may use Jones and/or Ryan as trade bait.  Besides, rookies contacts are rookie contracts.

they can't. their contracts are untradeable. look them up.

and the entire point of getting a high end rookie qb is having a good team around him and taking advantage of the rookie contract. the falcons can't do that or acquire new pieces.

Hes not a franchise QB for damn sure which people championed him to be. But he's not incompetent. On a great team he could probably win 10 games

I heard a great analogy this morning. The discussion was Wentz, but I think it's applicable to Teddy as well. There are guys in basketball that you just give the ball to and they make a play. They can create their own shot. There are other guys who you can set up with a double screen, and they'll get free, square up and hit the three for you. Mahomes/Wilson/Rodgers, etc are the type of QBs who can 'create their own shot'. They don't need everything to be perfect around them to be successful. Teddy (and the radio host put Wentz into this category as well) are more the guy you have to set up with a double screen. They can be successful with all the pieces around them working well, but they can't create their own shot.

I hope we dont do it. We would mortgage too much of the futrure in draft picks to go up a few spots for someone that is not GUARANTEED to be the star that he is in college. It just seems like such a risk and such an expensive risk to take for that matter. And who the hell is going to protect him if they mortgaged the future for him? This line looks worse than Cam's lines looked.

I'd like to see an example in the last 2 decades where a person mortgaged everything to move up and grab a guy and it resulted in a championship.

Ditka gave up an entire draft for Ricky Williams. The Saints never made the playoffs. Even more bizarre is the fact the Redskins got all of the picks and I don't think they ever won a playoff game.

The Redskins traded up to get RG3...we know how that turned out.

The Falcons gave up a lot to get Julio Jones. He's a great receiver but the lost one SB with him and don't appear to be on the verge returning to one anytime soon.

I'm sure I've left some deals out. But, I really would like to see where giving up multiple high draft choices in multiple seasons to grab one guy has resulted in a SB win or even a sustained playoff run for a NFL team.

It would take an insane amount of draft capital for the Jags to give up the pick. The Jets? Maybe they could have been talked into it. But the Jags GM is smart. He's not trading Trevor.

It's time for Panthers fans to face the music. The minute we signed Teddy we screwed our chances of getting Trevor.

it was a perfect year to tank but from what i heard here it's actually better to build a winning culture so im glad we did that instead this year lol

Given Teppers personality type I can definitely see them going for it

I would bet that it doesnt materialize though cause whoever ends up with the 1st pick would want him for themselves, and the opportunity cost would be too much for 1 college player, regardless of pedigree

But we'll see, I've been looking forward to this offseason since last offseason lol

There's no pick price too high but yeah, I don't expect it

I do expect we will be the source of every "Trevor Lawrence: overrated?" and "does Trevor Lawrence hate Florida?" and "Is Zach Wilson a Can't Miss Prospect?" smoke this offseason though

That could do it if Trevor pulls an Eli. I love McC but if this is all it would take to get a guy like Trevor it's a no brainer. Early 2nd, late 1st and a running back (who some could argue has a larger contract than is ideal) to move up for a generational prospect at the most important position... In a second. But no chance that would get it done if Trevor is willing to actually play for the Jags/Jets.

And sadly he is.
