What Would the Jets Do?

Hypothetically, if the current draft position holds, they’d have the #2 pick behind the Lawrenceville Jaguars. Do they move on from Darnold in favor of Fields? Conventional wisdom says no, with the most likely scenario being an attempt to trade down. What do you think?

Gonna depend on the new staff. If they think Darnold is salvageable they may seek to trade down or draft Sewell or Chase. Most new staffs want their own QB though. I expect the Jets to target a QB and trade Darnold for whatever they can get.

Darnold hasn’t shown nearly enough to pass on one of those 3 QBs. I bet they take Fields or Wilson.

The way Fields has looked recently I wonder if he will even be the pick at #2. I think the Jets will look to trade out of the #2 position and feign denial.

However, the relative value between pick 1 and pick 2 in the 2021 draft is vast not unlike the difference between Lawrence and the rest of the upcoming QB draft class.

The combine (assuming there is one) and other workouts are going to be telling in 2021. There is going to be limited film on many of the QBs (Lance and Fields especially). Such is not the case with Lawrence.
