Rhule may have had a part in this

I think this is our chance to grab our QB. The team will be too good in two years to get a high enough pick

No I have severe reservations we even make the playoffs next year. This a down year. The bads played the goods, next year is going to be a lot more mixed.

THOUGH, we are on the easy side of the matchups next year. So maybe your right but this coaching staff hasn't shown they have matured at all. Rhule is going to have a long learning curve.

He was via Brady. Yes. I dont think he's sold on Bridgewater though, but I also dont think we take a QB this draft. Probably next year. Hopefully that UNC kid. That dude is going to be good.

If we don’t take a QB then this organization is still stupid. Bridgewater is never going to be the guy and the sooner we get rid of him the better. Also we will have to sell the farm to trade up to get a franchise QB in 2022 because Howell will likely go 1st overall and we have no idea who the other QBs will be.
So no, we are going to draft a QB because we need a QB. Parsons or whoever isn’t going to make this team win more games and all it will do is have us stuck in 7-9 to 9-7 hell with Bridgewater.

That really doesn't excite me, especially if Rhule was one of the main proponents responsible for signing Bridgewater to a 3 year/60M deal.

What if Rhule/Brady specifically wanted Teddy for 1 reason and 1 reason only -- to provide stability and a mentor for the young future franchise QB that we draft. We were very close to drafting Herbert in the same off season we signed Bridgewater to that "3 year $60M" deal. If the plan all along has been to get that QB in the draft and develop him on the bench to start, it's really not that bad of a plan. I just don't buy the notion that Rhule or Brady had any expectation that Bridgewater would be our franchise QB. Teddy knows Brady's system well and can help a young QB learn it. The best "do-ers" are not often the best teachers, but Teddy seems like a guy who can be a great teacher for a young QB, like Alex Smith was for Mahomes.

Bridgewater may not be the answer but spending a 1st on a QB that could be out of the league in four years is crazy too. If the right player is there great, if not, do not gamble. Not on a first.

Need a laughing emoji cause just no. He is a serious yes man. Publicly and privately. He is not hard to figure out. If tepper says jump Rhule will say how high. Period. Full Stop.

This guy must be a millionaire since he can read people without ever meeting them once in their life.

I'm fine with coach-centric, what I worry about is Rhule possibly being power-hungry and wanting to run this like a college program where he is the end all, be all...  that's why I keep referencing the story about him and Brady being the ones that basically pushed Cam out and demanded we sign Bridgewater at the rate we did.  Hurney deserved to be fired for spinning his wheels for years regardless, but I fear if Rhule is given unmitigated and and unchecked power ober everything (like deciding who his QB is), and then gets it wrong, we'll enter into a loop of this same thing happening - Rhule makes a mistake, find someone to fire for it.

But again, Hurney was overdue for a firing and he was the last significant carryover from the last regime, so this was an easy move to make.

They didn't push Newton out.

As I said at the time (elsewhere), athletes like Newton aren't walking through the door at Baylor or Temple. You'd best believe Rhule was excited to work with him. Hell, he was excited to work with Shaq Thompson (albeit he might have changed his mind after this year! :Eyes_Emoji_42x42:).

The problem arose when Newton released that IG video about being disrespected - he wanted a multi-year contract because of all he'd done for the franchise etc. It's all on video - the Comms guy at the Panthers handed Rhule a phone with the video on (was it at the Combine?) and, although he has a good poker face, you could tell Rhule thought "nope. Can't work with that".

$20m a year for a starting QB is very reasonable - and yes I think Brady pushed for Bridgewater once he knew it was a possibility to get a guy he was comfortable with running his offence.

Matt Rhule and Marty Hurney were never going to work well together. Rhule wants to rebuild a winning program and Hurney isn't going to do that. Kinda ironic that he was the one that hired Rhule. That's twice he's been fired over a coach.

C'mon, Rhule was absolutely Tepper's hire.

Hurney was just along for the ride.
