I doubt it'll be Colbert. I think they're going to be looking for a younger guy to pair with Rhule for the long-term. But, who knows. If Colbert tells Tepper he's planning to work for another decade maybe that doesn't matter.

I think it's Colbert. Timing of the report that he'll be on the outs in Pittsburgh with Marty's firing now is just too easy to connect those dots. And it's been reported that Tepper has been after Colbert since he bought the team. Give Colbert the keys for at least a few years or however long he wants to do it and during this time groom internal people to take over for him like Beane should've here if JR wasn't such an imbecile. Hell, he could even groom Rhule to some degree. Rhule has made it known before that he would want to have full power of the FO and HC, and I think it's clear that he's not ready for that but maybe down the road he could handle it -- Coaches like Belichick, Reid, Carroll who have a ton of power and are essentially the top dog in their FO's didn't start with that much power. They earned and worked their way towards getting that over time. Rhule could do the same.

Do you anticipate the Steelers letting him go before his contract expires after the draft?

It's definitely possible

Maybe it's just me hoping but the stars seem to align there. Can't think of a better option for us. Just look at the Steelers record since 2000 when he got there... More Super Bowl wins than losing seasons.

It just wouldn't feel like Panthers fandom without talking draft before Thanksgiving.

Wouldn't you want to do the opposite?

Reading the tea leaves I would expect a younger, lesser known candidate.  Tepper says he wants to be analytics and data based, and have some huge collaborative effort in making decisions.  I can't imagine an older guy who is used to have more power taking the job.  And if he does, its not a good fit.

Strange name to throw out there, particularly based on his prior track record but...Phil Savage.
