Either way, although the timing is a bit strange (Merry Christmas, Marty), it was a long time coming.

I think it was Little and Grier not panning out this year under new coaching that showed Tepper Marty wasn't going to build the kind of consistent winning teams that Tepper wants.

If you are struggling to make ends meet, its savage.  I don't think Hurney is going to be struggling to buy gifts for the kids now and he isn't facing eviction.  He had to know he was living on borrowed time anyway.

I'm thinking Teddy's late game decisions had a lot to do with it, as well.

Something must have transpired between Hurney and Rhule the last couple of days after reading Tepper's comments about the HQ and GM not being aligned.

While I appreciate the humanity of many of y'all, let's be real.  Hurney made plenty of money as a GM and will have a successful return to radio.

Tepper wants results, and we're not getting them.  I wonder how much the Teddy decision impacted this decision.

I had that same feeling, "s*#t, right before Christmas."  Then I had your same thought.  It's not like they were paying him $40k a year all these years and now he is out of work.
