I want Lawrence, but that's not happening. I just haven't seen much tape on Lance but small school guys scare me since lack of competition waters down their film. He also is less than a 50% passer. Fields looks like Dewayne Haskins. The accuracy and decision making are iffy. I like Wilson and see alot of Aaron Rogers in him. He would be my choice, but its a gamble on anyone outside of Lawrence

If Trey Lance comes into the combine with his mechanics fixed then he'll be the next Panthers QB imo.

See?  There it is again.  People thinking they can fix mechanics.  I remember another physical specimen in a draft . . . "all we have to do is fix his throwing mechanics".  News flash:  By the time you hit the NFL, your mechanics are your mechanics.  You might make tiny improvements, but you're effectively set.  Either you have them or you don't.

If the Rivera / Shula / Hurney crowd was still in town, sure, I could see Lance being the choice.  But Rhule / Brady value completely different things in a QB.  They don't want or need a guy to run the read option or QB power.  Frankly, I'm glad.  Physical specimens and running QB's have a very limited shelf life in the NFL.  I'd rather see us draft a polished passer who can be the answer for 15 years.  Pretty sure that's how Rhule / Brady see it too.

You don't over think this one, Fields is a no brainer #2 behind Trevor. Lance/Wilson a toss up then Trask/Jones late 1st and not in the discussion for us

I know you don't take one game as a full analysis but Fields looked overwhelmed against Northwestern.  I was not impressed.  I would not say it's a no brainer.

My personal rankings right now

1. Wilson
2. Lance
3. Fields
4. Trask
5. Jones

Yeah the Wilson/Lance/Fields discussion is getting much much closer, and seeing a lot more of Wilson or Lance ahead of Fields than we did a few months back. I don't think you can go wrong with any of those 3 and who the fug really knows which will wind up being the best, but my thoughts on it are that Fields has just as much overall upside as the other 2 but has a better sample size. I'm really liking Wilson lately but his smaller stature concerns me a bit along with the competition he's played.

Do you think it's fair to say Trask/Jones are pretty much unanimously in a tier below the other 3? Or could you see reasons with them that a team would rank either higher than any of your top 3?

Concerning for sure, I just think overall Fields has as high of an upside as anyone, if not higher, plus he also has put more tape on film against better competition than the others. Lance and Wilson have similar upside but not quite as high of a floor, in my opinion. Can't really go wrong with any of the 3 and I wouldn't be upset if we had all 3 sitting there and took Wilson or Lance, but I would be completely shocked if Fields isn't the 2nd QB taken.
