Trey Lance, not Kyle Trask, is the other QB we should be talking about

I've seen all these "wHaT aBOuT kYLe tRaSk" threads it's becoming insanely annoying. People see those eye popping numbers without providing any type of context such as the fact that he has a noodle arm and zero athleticism. So basically exactly what we have right now.

Assuming Lawrence-Fields go 1-2 (and before any of you idiots bring it up trading up is not on the table and shouldn't be seriously discussed in any capacity) Wilson is easily my next top choice but if we can't get him for some reason I'd also be happy with Trey Lance. In terms of QB evaluation, I've made two massive mistakes recently. Regarding guys like Herbert and Allen, I thought that since those players weren't necessarily good in college they definitely wouldn't succeed in the NFL. But I could not have been more wrong about either of those players.

The moral of the story here, buy stock in passers that are young, athletic, and have big arms. Lance checks all three boxes with flying colors. Won't be ready to play next year maybe and that's fine. That's what we signed Teddy for. I'm super intrigued by Lance and his ceiling as I absolutely think he is a player that can make every throw you ask of him and also poses a threat with his legs. This should be the fourth guy on the list - not Trask. I also have Mac Jones over Trask.

Ok, sell me on spending a Top 5 pick on a guy that's played just 1 year of organised College football at the at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision level.

If Jones wins the heisman/comes close and then destroys the CFP, that's the guy were going to be talking about throughout the draft process, probably moreso than the guy who didn't play this season

not saying it's right or wrong, I really don't know the answer to that, but it is what it is.

As I've said, you don't check off all those boxes and then quietly go 5th or 6th in your position group, that just doesn't happen

Because of what I just said. He has all the tools you look for in a QB these days and absolutely zero physical limitations. Hell, his youth is part of the reason I'm so high on him. I don't care how good Kyle Trask has been this year, he can't stretch a defense vertically so you're automatically limited the moment you draft him. Lance has a rocket launcher that poses a threat at all levels passing and can also take off and run for 20 yards easily. The success of players like Wentz and Allen shouldn't make people quite as worried about a guy like Lance coming from a smaller school.

Just because there's been no threads on him doesn't mean he hasn't been talked about here. Most people here seem to agree that we should take the BPA out of Lawrence, Fields, Lance and Wilson (will likely be between Lance and Wilson only but who knows Jags could shake up the draft a bit...). Wilson is the hot topic and does seem to fit better in Brady's offense, but Lance will definitely be a big consideration and talked about a ton here leading up to the draft.

His own team in the championship game last year didn’t want him throwing the ball. They ran him 30 times.

Trust me, if Wilson is there it should be one of the easiest picks in franchise history. But I'd be fine with Lance too. If we end up picking 5 or 6 Wilson may not be there

Dont know a lot about him yet...  but I know he has tons of potential with the arm and athleticism...  and after Josh Allen panned out considering his strengths and weaknesses coming out of poor program in Wyoming, I am willing to at least consider, especially when Trask is the other option, who I have no interest in.

    • We can't afford to reach for one of the first round QBs this year. I would love for nothing more than Bryce to be the reason we don't even scout the bastards
