Tackles by LBers are the indicator of success. Because this means the tackles are being made before they are getting to second level (the majority of the time) Tackles by Safeties depend on the position they play (FS or SS) and the style of defense. In the case of Chinn, it is not over rate to use tackles to determine his performance. His a LB and expected to stop the ball carrier from getting to the secondary.

So Boston is playing great? He is high on tackles?

How many tackles would a different player have playing the same spot as Chinn? More? Less?  A yard sooner?  A yard later?

Answer those questions and that will give you a better idea of how well he is playing, the total number by itself is a very incomplete picture.

Remember when 80% of the board wanted Simmons? lol

and?

Simmons has been playing well lately.  Like Brown he struggled early.

Go check out the PFF rankings of both, that is of course if you have watched every snap of Simmons which I doubt.

I don't take much stock in that.

Why are you talking about Brown? This is about the fact we scored a superior player in round two...  I'm sure you've watched all his snaps on all 22 and will let us know all about it... I've seen enough that I still think he's a soft player.

What does my comment have to do with Boston? I am stating that Chinn is a linebacker, he is graded off tackles. There is a difference between a linebacker making a tackle for less than 3 yards, and a safety making a tackle after a 15 yard gain.....

Show me a great linebacker with a low amount of tackles...

Did this guy get dropped on his head too many times? He keeps dragging completely unrelated players into the topic.

The Brown, Chinn and Yetur Gross-Matos picks make me hope that we've turned a corner as a franchise. That's three starters, and two difference makers, in one Draft.

The later picks of Troy Pride Jr., Bravvion Roy and Stantley Thomas-Oliver III have shown promise too - and I'm never going to fault them for taking a flyer on Kenny Robinson.
