Where is Kyle Trask ranked in this year's draft? He's looked good tonight.

I haven't watched much college football this year. Tonight is the first time I've seen Kyle Trask play. Check out his stat line 26-40 3TDs with no INTs. He helped the Gators put up 46 points on Alabama tonight in a hard fought game they could have won had the defense just played a little bit better in the first half (they have up 35 points) We all know Trevor is going #1. But how are the other QBs ranked?

Justin Fields was considered the #2 at the start of the season. But I think you could make a strong case for Mac Jones and/or Kyle Trask now. Based on tonight's performance I wouldn't be disappointed at all if we grabbed Trask, which could happen since we're picking inside the top 10 this year. I'm sure most of you on this board have followed him more than me. Do you think he's legit?

Trask IS the second best QB in the draft. He's bigger than most of those guys and plays QB/ not RB better than most of them. I've seen enough.

Pickles Wilson with two surgeries and slight of frame going to the NFL?! Seen that story with pickles. At least pickles went to ND.

Yes @ SCO96, Kyle Trask IS a worth a 1st round pick wherever you pick. Nobody gave Trask anything, he worked hard on being a QB until his time came and he showed the world.

Also, the people talking about his arm or velocity are speaking from their bung holes.

Some on the board say he has a weak arm. I didn't see that last night. He made several good throws down the field. He doesn't appear gun-shy when it comes to putting the ball into tight places. He didn't seem  content for a check down throw when a bigger play is available further down the field.

We know we have a shot at a top QB prospect in the first round. But, if we don't grab a QB in the first round, they may be all gone by the time we pick in the 2nd round. I admit to having a small viewing sample, but Trask impressed me tonight. But, we have so many holes to fill that I would understand drafting a day one starter at another position of need at #4 or #5.

I just don't trust a Carolina Front Office with Marry Gurney to find a franchise QB after the 1st round based on his/their draft history. That means we may have to ride with Teddy another year and I don't think anyone really likes that option.

Me and Marty were all over Justin Herbert last year.

I think Marty signed Jake Delhomme's and drafted Cam.

His biggest bust was Jimmy Clausen but I think someone was pushing for pickles, not sure.

I'm picking Trask at 4. Big QB. .32 release (fast), nice high release, processes what he sees quickly. Most importantly, gets the ball out.

6'5" 240+from the looks of him last night.

I'm all in.

It might take more than that. We still need offensive line (C, OT, and OG), linebacker, FS, CB, TE, and another DT plus some real depth. We can’t afford to get him and leave all these holes on our roster. Fields, Wilson, or Lance would still be upgraded and one should be available when we draft.

As much as I like Trevor (which is hard to say being a lifelong Carolina Gamecock fan) there's no way I'm giving up multiple #1 picks for him. If we were only a QB away from competing then I'm all in. But, you laid out exactly why we shouldn't give up 3 #1's...we have too many holes on the team. A trade like that could hinder out ability to build a deep/solid roster for years.

They don’t actually mean he has a weak arm. They mean it’s just average. He can make all the throws but he doesn’t have the same zip that Wilson does and Wilson happens to be the guy that most here want if we snag a QB that isn’t Lawrence.

Exactly, his arm is very average. Read any analysis on him and his ‘weak by NFL standards’ arm is his most common knock. Watch a few snaps of Herbert, Mahomes, R Wilson, Rodgers, etc and then watch Trask’s ‘highlights’. It’s painfully obvious. He’s improved this year, but if he’s throwing like that now, what will he be doing in 7 years?

Its hard to win in this league with a QB like that.

Wilson on the other hand  can sling it.

Wilson already has an injury history. After evaluations he'll be lucky to still be in the first THIS year.

Being smallish in the NFL ISNT an advantage look at Teddy. This is a big man's game. Do any of you think Trevor would be #1 if he was 6'2" 210?

WTF? Kyle isn't dinking and dunking he's throwing the ball down the field. He almost lead a comeback to beat a stacked Alabama. WTF are you guys talking about?!? I saw velocity, touch, throwing the receiver open.

Stats back my argument, he's thrashing all those other guys all at an NFL ready 6'5" 240+lbs. He doesn't move like a heavy guy. He even ran power into the end zone.

Ya'll are sleeping on my boy.

What scares people about Ohio State quarterbacks is the same thing that scares them about Alabama quarterbacks. It's the question of "Sre they really that good, or are they just playing on a team that's head and shoulders above everyone else?"

Troy Smith probably didn't do Ohio State any favors on that front.

Its funny. Its either this qb hasnt played anybody, their team isnt good or their team is too good even though they play the best competition.  What we're looking for here apparently is a qb who plays on an exactly average team in an exactly average conference to be able to say with any certainty that they can play above average.

Thing is though, while they might be annoying, all of those scenarios are often true.

It's pretty rare to find a draft prospect without questions. Lawrence is generally considered by most, but those are rare.

Drafting ain't easy, but it's necessary.

That's because people don't actually know how to evaluate what they are seeing. The actual scouts have a better chance at that.

I haven't seen Fields play at all this season so I can't give any assessment on him.  I assume he'd be the 2nd QB off the board (prior to our pick). If he's gone before  we are on the clock could you see us taking Trask?

The general consensus as of now without workouts is:

Lawrence

Fields

Lance

Wilson

Trask

I think people wanting Wilson at #4 are bat poo crazy.

I find it so interesting the takes going around the interwebz after Fields' day yesterday. He had a BAD day, but come on..... he's still the QB2. He has had a few struggles this year....100%, but I don't think he's fallen off to the point that he's not the 2nd QB taken.

If he's not, then I will do cartwheels for him to come to Carolina.

He was the #1 QB coming out of HS and went to UGA, and now Ohio St. He was neck-and-neck with Lawrence last year and has fallen off bc a BYU QB has played a vanilla schedule and dominated?

Is he?

There were already people talking about Zach Wilson being better even before yesterday. And a big game performance so bad that the team basically just stopped passing isn't going to go unnoticed.

I'd say Fields is going to need to look a lot better in their upcoming game(s) if he wants to be assured of that number two spot.

That’s just people being caught in the moment. Fields is absolutely QB2 in this group. People are falling in love with Jordan Love again in Zach Wilson.
