Yeah, they have their QB. Time to build a line for him.

Only way I see them not getting him, is if they get an offer from a team that wants to trade up to get their QB. I personally don't think they will but a team to kepp an eye on trading back is the Cowboys. If they sign Dak this offseason, I could for sure see them trading back if Fields and Lawrence are already gone and a team hears we want Zack Wilson so they trade up right in front of us to nab him.

We discussed this in another thread.  Sewell is good but according to Bulger he would have been ranked like 4/5 in last years ranking of tackles.  Which is why I wished we would have gotten one then instead of Brown.  There are 3 incredible ones that would could have chosen at our spot

We couldn't take a tackle last year. That would mean Hurney would have to admit what all of us already knew. Little was a bust, was always a bust, and was always going to be a bust. I'm of the firm opinion Brown wasn't a pick based on talent or need, it was based on ego.

Pretty much yeah, but so far Becton, wirfs and wills all look good and wirfs plays like an animal

I disagree with Bulger's assessment--but we shall see. It is really hard to evaluate tackles--especially those from certain conferences.  I would withdraw this position if that is indeed the case.

I understand that--but how many of the QBs taken early in round 1 over the last 10 years were decent?  Taking the 4th best QB with the sixth overall pick is hardly wise in the long run.   We need to make sure that our desperation for a QB does not cause us to pass on the best LT to come out in over a decade or more--all of the early first round bust QBs looked great in college....

I agree that sometimes getting the best player at one position is better than the 4th best at another. I think people here want the next Cam Newton when the system is not requiring a super star. It would only need a guy like Bridgewater with a stronger arm and more willing to throw it down the field. The system is the key not the guy running it.  Our best run was when we had Jordan Gross and we haven't been the same since. If we could land the next Jordan Gross, it will mean more than finding the next Deshaun Watson or Nick Foltz.  Or whoever will be available if everyone picks a QB depending on how we finish.

Everyone has an opinion but Bulger is one of the best out there.  He watches a lot of film and has a methodical grading style.

If you use the logic, "Well Matt Kalil was a LT..." Then you are selecting an isolated incident where it did not work out to make a statement about the whole.  It is a weak argument because for every Matt Kalil he can find, I can find 20 Jamarcus Russells.

Yeah, so all I wanted to know is if Matt Kalil was seen as a great prospect on his own.

Or if he only was a good prospect.

But was given a higher grade because the success of his brother and his former team mate.

Yes--you do.  A LT makes the QB better.  A QB is unlikely to make the LT better.

Cam sure did for many years but we know the results of that. I choose to have both tbh. It's also probably why the Bengals are going to draft the duck.
