Micah Parsons come on down!!!

As much I would love to hear his name called for us, I wouldn’t necessarily spend a top 5 pick on a LB no matter how talented he is. We should definitely try to get a franchise type player e.g. QB or LT there. Beyond that - if we end up between 6-10 - Parsons no question!

If we are at 5 the best value would be OT, pass rusher or QB.  Its a crazy weak draft for oline and pass rushers but really strong draft for qb.  I think I know where we will be going with that pick

Probably well. Florida’s defense is ass, and ND would get murdered.

ND's defense is better than Florida's and arguably better than Clemson's. They play down to their competition, but don't let that fool you. They are solid. They completely shut down UNC in the 2nd half and that's saying something. With that said, I don't think anyone can beat Alabama unless Alabama has a terrible game. ND's defense would be a really good test for Jones and provide a good gauge of his ability to counter adjustments.

I don’t agree. The one they had had something to prove they get destroyed by a true freshman QB to the tune of over 400 yards. So na.

Wrong, if the teams are in the same division their division record is also used as well as sos. SOS isn't the sole decision maker.

It goes like this.

1. SOS

2. Division record

3. Conference record

4. Coin flip

That's exactly how it works.

Yes, you are correct about the in between stuff but SOS is far and away the main driver. Also, if we both lose our our division records will be identical, 1-5. They will have 1 more AFC win so our conference record will be better. If those tiebreakers are like SOS where the worse team gets ahead then we’d lose that tiebreaker. Tankathon has us ahead because technically Atlanta has a better division record now but they’d be the same if we both lose out.

That said if we both lose out, we played Arizona and Washington and Atlanta played Seattle and Dallas. Those teams last 3 games determine our fate and if somehow they finish exactly the same, not likely since we play Washington, then the other tiebreakers matter and we’d lose. So you were right about the extra tiebreakers before the coin flip and wrong about us having the advantage of we lose out.

If we finish at 5 I'd probably be okay with any of the players selected . We could easily get the best CB, MLB, OL, or DE.

It's really up in the air what would actually happen . Mostly because I don't know how the organization feels about getting another QB. It's possible theyre simply committed to Teddy and won't draft a qb or could be the opposite it's impossible to tell .

I'd probably rank who I want in this order (with who realistically might be available)

1. Sewell (OT)

* Most likely taken by the Bengals, if not he's easily our pick

2. Surtain (CB )

* Defense needs a lockdown CB in a bad way

3. Wilson/Lance (I'd take either ) (QB)

* More of a personal want I like both especially if they simply drop to our pick

4. Parsons (MLB)

* Obviously needed badly

5. best DE.

6. Trade down and get a C/G, or Pitts (TE)

If we end up top 5 I really kinda think that is too rich a spot for Wilson.  Guess I will have to see how the predraft process goes.

There's no such thing as too rich a spot if you really believe he's your franchise QB. Doesn't matter where or how you get him If he's the truth . That's how important it is to have your franchise QB.

There's been several teams that trade the farm to get a qb and if you drafted a good one without trades that a huge win. Especially considering we'd still have high picks in the remaining rounds .

Yeah I like Jones. He has the best pocket footwork and release mechanics in the draft. At number 4 Id be all about trading back a few spots.

Would you trade back If Sewell and Surtain and Parsons were there ?? Not sure about being so ready to trade out of a top 5 pick because it's rare to be drafting that high

To me it depends on the talent drop off from pick 5 to whatever you're trading back to. Obviously there is no static dropoff year to year. Sometimes trading back from 5 to say 10 would be a significant drop off, sometimes not at all, so just depends on whether you perceive much of a difference or not.

Having said that I would not trade back of Sewell was there because ZOMG franchise LT! Surtain not sure, Parsons definitely would because MLB has become the least relevant position on the D.
