I will admit to pondering the question of if, for whatever pure fantasy of a reason you can come up with, Penei Sewell were to be available at our pick, would you take him over your favorite non Trevor Lawrence quarterback choice?

I think Lawrence has an incredible amount of leverage in this draft, if he can’t force a trade, he might decide to stay at Clemson.  I know he would take a risk by possibly getting injured, but he has more leverage than Elway ever had.

This team is remaining competitive with smoke and mirrors, there’s practice squad players starting at multiple positions and the overall lack of depth is pathetic. So OL, DB/S or LB is much more of a pressing issue than reaching for a QB to sit next to Grier for a year.

#4 is our ceiling, but it's definitely within reach. We aren't catching the top three. The Chargers have games against the Raiders and Broncos remaining. Decent chance they'll win one of those games. They also have the Chiefs and while I don't see them winning that game, they did only lose by a FG in OT their first matchup. The Cowboys have games against the 49ers, Eagles, and Giants remaining. Decent chance they'll win one of those games.

Honestly, if we lose out, I think #4 overall is likely. Two QBs will go in the top three with the Jets and Jags up there. The Bengals are taking Sewell.

Bengals should still listen to trade offers

Want to know something disappointing? Until this week, Teddy was tied with Colt McCoy and Brandon Weeden with a career high of 14 TDs and both of them only started one year (13 and 15 games). In Teddy’s 3rd year he finally got by McCoy and Weeden.

Teddy has 14 TDS this year only, guess his namesake played for the saints and vikings.

Of course there is.

A reach is when you draft a guy who's not talented enough to justify the position at which they were drafted. Say, for example, Jimmy Clausen in the top ten.

I don’t consider guys like Clausen a franchise QB prospect. When you believe in a QB prospect you are willing to trade multiple first round picks for him like the Chiefs did. Clausen was a guy who just fell into our laps in the second round. If they don’t work out so be it, and you try again

Huh? Read it again. Teddy’s career high with all of his teams is 14TDs. In his 13 games as our starter he still only has 14 TDs. It’s sad that Colt McCoy (in 13 games) and Weeden (in 15) have career highs matching Teddy because they were awful. I’m sure at some point in the next few weeks he’ll get to 15 to create some separation although his 1TD pass the last two weeks isn’t a good trend but heck he’s played two of the best pass Ds in Minnesota and Denver and luckily Denver was down a few CBs.

Also, using Teddy’s career numbers, 52TDs in 3.5 years of games isn’t a great come back since a bunch of QBs have equaled or come close to that in a single year.

I've been moving much more towards the Draft a QB so long as it's the right QB.  As for that, who knows?  There's still a lot of work to do in scouting and figuring out who will play best for us.  How will Brady's system evolve (no way he gets a HC gig this season I think) in year 2?

Do we need upgrades galore?  Yes, but if we are able to get a guy who can be "the guy" then who cares?  The Joe Thomas example is great.  HOF guy for a terrible team.  They drafted QB after QB who all sucked.  Get the best QB until you have your Franchise QB.  That's it.  There's no point in hoping things work out.

Teddy is a wonderful guy, but I just don't see a franchise QB.

Whether it's through the draft or through free agency, Panthers going to need to go and get another QB this offseason either way. With Rhule and Bridgewater making contradicting statements after every 4th quarter failure it's obvious they're not on the same page anymore. Guys like Sam Darnold might be available and worth trying out for 1 year if the draft route doesn't work out.

But the way things are shaping up, Panthers will be picking #4 or #5, and will likely be in a good spot to pick the #3 QB on the board which could end up being Zach Wilson or Justin Fields, both of whom are very much worth drafting at those spots. With Bridgewater on board for at least 1 more season, sitting a rookie QB for a season is a luxury and one the Panthers can afford.

QB is mostly a crapshoot.... it is possible to get a good QB in the first round without a top 3 pick but they are far and few between....I think we'll build on the core this year and possibly get one in 22... build the team and the scheme.

Not so sure about that plan. I don't expect to draft as high next year - likely mid-1st IMO. And next year's QB crop is kinda looking like Sam Howell and a bunch of meh unless someone takes a big step forward and then you're drafting a one year wonder.

No. Sewell is a great LT prospect but he'll be Joe Thomas for us if we don't find a QB.

A great QB will be Cam Newton 2.0 if we don't find an LT. Our odds at one will drop next year, but Sewell falls to us and we have the chance to get that position right once and for all we have to take it in my opinion.
