If the Bengals trade out of that spot when they could take Sewell, their fans might riot (and they'd be justified in doing so).

They have took over for the browns, Mike Brown is the Michael Jordan of NFL owners. More than a few times, Ive seen the fans wanting to shoot Brown into the sun.

We are not guaranteed to have a chance to draft this high in a draft and have the ability to attain a potential franchise QB again. There are four blue chip QB prospects in this class. You absolutely do not overthink yourself into not having a QB to build around. We already know Teddy is not that guy, time to move on.

If your QB sucks you replace him. Simple as.

It's been memory holed but 10 years ago on this very forum people wanted to take a DT from Alabama whos name I cant even remember and "develop" Jimmy Clausen with a new staff. Bottom line is kicking Jimmy out the door was one of the best things we've ever done tbh

Drafting him because we needed a QB was one of the worst decisions this team ever did.

The narrative around Cam was we would be "reaching for need" but we took him because he was a franchise QB and we had a high pick. This is the situation we are in again.

What is the point of rushing CMC back? It's refreshing that this organization is actually making smart decisions with franchise players when we're out of contention. We ruined Cam. Let's not repeat the same mistakes.

No point just think Teddy would benefit form CMC, but he seems not to be able to play. Teddy is everyones punchline while CMC has only played in 3 games and hes the best at his body. Many been calling Teddy soft/puss/scared, while CMC has another issue(quad) and been all-pro rehabber this season.

It also points to that RR tin-foil hat theory too, no CMC does help with losing.

If we indeed think that one of these guys is a franchise QB. Cam was the top QB. Clausen wasn’t; neither will whomever we draft this year. Just so happens that we have the same excellent evaluator of talent pulling the trigger.

Our pick is going to be the top DE or Parsons

Better warm up to it now or be disappointed next April

If we are picking 4-6 and Parsons is the pick, it will be a perfect Herniay pick.......nothing like spending a top five pick on a low value spot. Herniay could draft a RB in the first too, I hes wants too with CMC heath issues. Be the next Dlow and stew.....

That is obvious in hindsight, but it wasn't so obvious at the time.

Lots of talking heads and analysts were stumping for Gabbert in particular.

True.  It was obvious that Clausen was not a good prospect - and that was the original point. We took a QB just because and he was terrible. I don’t really watch college so I’m not going to try and scout the QB prospects. I am completely fine taking a guy if everything points to him being an upgrade but please don’t let us bypass legit talent just to get a guy that can get us 5 wins a year.

If you don’t get a QB this year, I think it will be an even longer rebuild. Most QBs take a good year to get up to the speed of the NFL. Next year is probably Teddy’s last year with us, so it makes too much sense to draft one and let Teddy start until he is ready. I’m not against trading down, but we would need to really like a Trask, Jones, or even Jamie Newman to do so. Aside from Howell, who are the big names in the 2022 draft?

We seem similar to the Dolphins last year. Competitive, but usually lose with a bunch of young players and Teddy has been streaky like Fitz. Rookie head coach who is looking to create a consistent winner. They drafted Tua and seem to be on the right track.

    • Yep. Happens to a lot of talented kids. I just think a lot of people don't understand that just because this kid is super talented doesn't mean he's going to make it to the pros. Most of them won't. Some will get injured. Some will run into trouble off the court/field. Some won't put in the work. The catering greatly increases the odds of the latter two. Then most will simply just not be good enough to make it to the pros. Either way, it all adds up to a long shot and the kids need to have solid plan Bs. A few years back my HS had the #1 RB recruit on the nation. He originally committed to UGA but flipped to Bama and was getting decent playing time as a true freshman before obliterating his ankle. He was never the same again after that. Never made it to the pros. Not sure what happened to him but evidently he wasn't the brightest bulb and was basically just getting passed through school to stay academically eligible. I don't think he was a bad kid, never really heard anything like that. He just wasn't all that bright and all the eggs were in the football basket.
    • Our current hand is to pick up his fifth year option and then we have up to two more years to work on developing him and evaluating him.
    • That's just our current hand, its unfortunate. No easy solution and damned if you, damned if you don't.  Signing each is less wrong... Just wait until BY is up for a contract..... horn and icky will be nothing and each is super nerve wrecking...
