The "Let's get a QB in the 1st round" group

Who are the top teams?

Chiefs and Mahomes

Saints and Brees

Steelers and Big Ben

Packers and Rodgers

Bills and Allen

Tennessee is a kinda outlier, but Tannehil is above average and borderline really good

Seahawks have Wilson

Kyler, Goff, Baker, Tua. Streaky but not allergic to the LoS like our boy Teddy.

If we wanna compete, we can’t be OK with Teddy.

Agree, don’t reach for the sake of reaching, but don’t be scared to draft your QB of the future if you trust your evaluations.

The only way that scenario works is if we are just as bad next year.

Trading down from #4 or #6 just to try to trade up from #10-13 next year would be pointless.

We don’t have a shot at winning anything without a top QB.  That either takes luck or a lot of swings. QB purgatory is real. We need to take a swing every draft until we get someone.

I feel that:100_Emoji_42x42:. If we do get Zach, I pray a decent OL falls to us in the 2nd.

I will admit to pondering the question of if, for whatever pure fantasy of a reason you can come up with, Penei Sewell were to be available at our pick, would you take him over your favorite non Trevor Lawrence quarterback choice?

Everyone points to beagauls, but my hope is some team will offer the " move up QB package "to them at 3, leaving Sewell for the panthers. Then we break the Jordan Gross record in card turn in time. Very easy to see 3 QBs taken 1-3 in this draft. If not one of the 3 QB will be there at 4, which is what the panthers need for this draft.

I bet we’re the ones who give that QB package to the bungles.

They would love an extra high second round pick to stack their OL.

It’s cheaper to move up a few spots now than try to do it when you’re picking mid round.

We could for sure be in play for a move up this year, I dont believe Marty has a history with Beaguals(like Seattle). I feel right now no chance either Jags or Jets will NOT be 1-2, and they will not move at all. 3 is where the magic starts and they got their QB this year. There should be 2 less QBs and teams that have one of the remaining big 4 could offer a godfather package. They in turn may NOT want to drop down that far and workout a deal with the panthers. No idea on whom this braintrust of Marty/Rhule/Tepper will want if they are sitting at 4, with the lack of overall talent it could be anyone.

SF got 67th and 111th overall for moving down one spot as a example of 2 overall to 3 in 2017. That price should be higher for a QB tho, still it has happened before. Many teams spend alll the time focusing on __ pick and do not want to move far form that spot, like 3 to 20..... totally different group of players to scout there.

If your QB sucks you replace him. Simple as.

It's been memory holed but 10 years ago on this very forum people wanted to take a DT from Alabama whos name I cant even remember and "develop" Jimmy Clausen with a new staff. Bottom line is kicking Jimmy out the door was one of the best things we've ever done tbh

Honestly think about if Teddy checkdown had the best checkdown weapon in the game, I doubt hed be getting all this hate. He also played without Moore this past game and the biggest drop in talent on the panthers is the top 3 WRs to the 4th one. CMC should be getting hate as well as Teddy, they both are getting paid about the same and at least Teddy is playing. CMC had a mystery "quad" injury pop up after bye week and lots of R&R, now theres talk of him missing green bay. Lots of soft talk about Teddy, while CMC has been cashing rehab checks....

If the Bengals trade out of that spot when they could take Sewell, their fans might riot (and they'd be justified in doing so).

What is the point of rushing CMC back? It's refreshing that this organization is actually making smart decisions with franchise players when we're out of contention. We ruined Cam. Let's not repeat the same mistakes.

    • Yep. Happens to a lot of talented kids. I just think a lot of people don't understand that just because this kid is super talented doesn't mean he's going to make it to the pros. Most of them won't. Some will get injured. Some will run into trouble off the court/field. Some won't put in the work. The catering greatly increases the odds of the latter two. Then most will simply just not be good enough to make it to the pros. Either way, it all adds up to a long shot and the kids need to have solid plan Bs. A few years back my HS had the #1 RB recruit on the nation. He originally committed to UGA but flipped to Bama and was getting decent playing time as a true freshman before obliterating his ankle. He was never the same again after that. Never made it to the pros. Not sure what happened to him but evidently he wasn't the brightest bulb and was basically just getting passed through school to stay academically eligible. I don't think he was a bad kid, never really heard anything like that. He just wasn't all that bright and all the eggs were in the football basket.
    • Our current hand is to pick up his fifth year option and then we have up to two more years to work on developing him and evaluating him.
    • That's just our current hand, its unfortunate. No easy solution and damned if you, damned if you don't.  Signing each is less wrong... Just wait until BY is up for a contract..... horn and icky will be nothing and each is super nerve wrecking...
