Nobody outside of huddlers think the contract was smart

Also not true. Plenty of analysts have said it was a good idea to keep him.

Joe Person did an article on it in the Athletic where they checked with different sources, including an NFL executive (not with the Panthers) who said it was absolutely the right call.

link please

Douglas: Marrying the inside and the outside views, we arrive at a clear conclusion: The numbers did not support signing McCaffrey to such a large contract.

Our decision: Plausible

There were several reasons why the Panthers decided to take the plunge with McCaffrey’s contract, but their success with and without him, and his injury history this season, are setting off alarms.

I'm not sure you read that whole article if that's what you got out of it.

You said no one outside of The Huddle was defending it.

That article pretty clearly shows that isn't true.

Are we reading the same thing?  The end result is pretty clear.  For the amount of touches he got it doesnt equate to any type of success

Is this his final season in the NFL?

No?

Well if not, then the question of whether that contract was a good idea or not isn't decided yet.

If he continues to be banged up, then yeah, it'll have been a bad decision.

But as mentioned, if he recovers and returns to form in future years, nobody's gonna give a sh-t about him being hurt this season other than people who drafted him to their fantasy teams.

Yeah, I know everybody these days wants to be able to say "see there, I said it first" (even if half their predictions actually turn out to be wrong) but I'm more inclined to watch how things play out before I make those sorts of pronouncements.

Yes there is.

Plenty of people (and not just Huddlers) disagree with that notion.

If this year turns out to be an aberration and he returns to form in seasons to come, nobody's gonna care that he was hurt this year.

Plenty of people, not just Huddler's, didn't agree with the decision.

I was iffy on it myself, especially given that the guy who wrote the contract is the same guy who paid Double Trouble.

But again, the story ain't over just yet.

Yeah, it could turn out to be another Marty mistake, but that's not guaranteed just yet.

Agreed. It isn't a good start when the biggest reason why you don't make those kind of offers happened immediately.

Good. CMC needs to be done for the season. Playing him at this point is all risk and no reward.

But what about people who drafted him in the first round of their fantasy football draft?  Have you no mercy man?!?!
