I just dont get how this guy is on the payroll.

 

I know it has been rumored that he isnt going to be GM much longer.  But those same rumors say he may become some director of scouting role.  Which matches with Teppers evaluator of Talent quote.

His drafting the second go around has been way better than the previous tenure, his draft woes aren’t a strong reason to fire him if a reason at all.

he’s older and should be giving the reigns to someone younger anyway, I’m good with him until that candidate comes along, assuming tepper knows what he’s doing

What are the "rumors"?

I'm curious what the "insiders" are saying about who is on the short-list of GM candidates Tepper will be choosing from?

the draft is maybe 20% of of a GMs job...and his specialty (or really any competent GM), the top of the first round, is like 5%.

Well this specific thread is focusing on the drafting aspect, and there’s a thread previously explaining how well he is as at drafting based on the percentage of hit and misses after the first rd.

....who are the insiders saying is the next GM?  And when will he be put into place?

Whether you like/dislike or just lumping yourself in on the say something negative about Hurney every post thread..Greg Little checked all the boxes of what we needed then. It was a good pick!

With a little more strength and fine-tuning with his technique, Little can be a solid left tackle for a long time in the NFL.

WR - DJ Moore - Hit

CB - D. Jackson - Barely Acceptable (mostly because he can't stay on the field)

S - Gaulden - Miss

TE. Thomas - Miss Was supposed to take over for Olsen and hasn't come close to being the answer at TE

DE  Haynes - Acceptable for his round Starting to show promise

LB Carter - Acceptable for his round Better than Whitehead but probably not the answer at MLB

LB Smith - Miss - Off the team

Norton - Miss - Off the team

2019

DE - Burns - Hit

OT - Little - Miss

QB - Grier - Miss

LB - Miller - probably Miss Showed promise but opted out -

RB - Scarlett - Miss Couldn't beat out Bonnefan an UDFA still on the team but no production

OT - Daley Hit better than 2nd round pick Little.  Can't stay healthy

WR - Godwin Miss

2020 (More Rhule than Hurney)

DT - Brown HIT

DE - YGM - HIT

S- Chinn - HIT

CB - Pride - HIT Has shown promise and with experience may turn into a good starter

S - Robinson - Miss couldn't make the final 53 and ended on Practice squad won't make the team next year

DT - Roy - HIT Solid rotational player 

CB- Stanley Thomas-Oliver -Hit has actual seen playing time. Not bad for a 7th rounder.

 

2018 really the only steady player is Moore. Cater and Haynes are the only reason this draft was mediocre at best

2019 Abysmal Outside of Burns and Daley we missed badly and this was all on Hurney

2020 IMO this was a Rhule led draft and a major reason we hit more than we missed.

Little also had major flaws that every team passed on until Hurney.  

No he wasn't a good pick.  A good pick makes the playing field and produces.  The only thing he has produced is help Defensive Ends pad their sack totals.

I was just being a fan when suggesting Luke. I think his next role is another level of coach somewhere if he wants to remain in football. Mr. Scot is a lifer here and I appreciate his takes even when I have a differing opinion than him.

Did you see his combine. It was horrible. His footwork was terrible, his reaction speed terrible, he looked like a pig on ice skates. He didn't look like a late round tackle.
