Hypothetical Bridgewater Trade

Not a bad idea to explore.  Philly would bear the brunt of the signing bonus stuff, which makes it not probable.

I mentioned it a week ago, as Carson is loved by teammates and they think it is not his fault for their bad play.  Sometimes a change of scenery is good for all involved.

How did the Eagles beat the Saints yesterday with a QB change then? Wentz isn't the only issue, but he's definitely one of them.

I think Philly found their answer yesterday. Fortunately, it was at the expense of the Saints, which makes me happy.

Actually works in our favor.  The Eagles are now below us in the draft, and the Saints will now have to play their actual players that last game assuming the Packers continue to win.

Because "sometimes a change is good for everyone involved"?

It definitely when you bench a struggling QB for a talented young QB. I don't know what is going on with Wentz, but he needs to get out of Philly. It's just over for him there. Maybe a change of scenery would do him some good. But damn, he looks completely shell shocked.

Not sure why everyone in this thread is flipping out. If we somehow could get Wentz for like a 6th and he restructures to Teddy contact (none of this would ever happen, the Eagles FO isn't that dumb but playing along) I absolutely would. It's a win/win, allows you to either sit Wilson for a year behind a good QB who just is having a horrible year and could come back with new staff or let's you not reach for a QB in this draft if we aren't sold on the guys there and can wait until 2022

Look I did not think signing any 'big" money FAs was smart this year, cause no matter what  they would not add enough wins. For a starting non-rookie Teddys contract is fine, maybe the cheapest in the whole league. The issue is hes not better than other less cost options for teams. Thus making it a bargain and over-pay at the same time.

Teams are not going to trade for Teddy, when a vet minimum type can get yield similar results. Specially in a down cap upcoming year.

I don't want to watch Teddy anymore either, but there's no reason to trade him for a worse contract.

We'll be essentially free of his contract after next season.

Wentz isn't the answer for the Eagles and he's not the answer for us either.

Exactly. Part of the reason I didn’t want a bridge QB, especially one I knew wasn’t the answer, was wasting cap space.

Also, we could dump Teddy and save $8M. His contract guarantees about half of 2021 so while you eat some of it (we eat it if he’s on the team too), you save a nice chunk if all he’s going to be is a mentor. He’s a nice guy but I don’t want the check down/be safe and don’t throw past the sticks/better to audible to a run type of play getting into a rookie’s head. I’d rather acknowledge the mistake and have the extra $8M to rollover to 2022 to pay Moore, etc.

Teddy might be tradeable, but Carson Wentz is not.  Unless the Eagles are willing to keep a sizeable portion of his cap hit.

Sports radio jock said Philly would not trade because THEY would be on the hook for a ton of the money.

If we could trade them Teddy and get Carson for not much more, then it would be fun to go after Sewel or Parsons

Who in the hell would trade for Teddy? Why would the Eagles trade for Teddy when Hurts already looks better?

Who in the hell would trade for Wentz? Have you seen him play this year? Have you seen his contract?

Nothing about any of this makes any sense.

Eagles would trade Wentz for Teddy because of contract. But no, if I were the Panthers I would just hang on to Teddy and release him after next year.
