Tanking is clear evidence that draft system is flawed.  Two wrongs don’t make a right.   You get rewarded for having morons in front office and bums on the team, which results in boring games and league.

The only cure is promotion/relegation.  Teams should be fighting to the death to avoid the bottom, and fans right along side

We need GB and New Orleans to keep pace with each other until week 17 in order for Payton to play all his starters in that last game. I’m not getting screwed out of a high draft pick again by Payton even though we ended up with Brian Burns.

Not really. If Green Bay beats us next week OR the Saints lose to the Chiefs (both seem likely), there is no scenario where the Saints can clinch home field by week 16. On the other side, the Saints are only 1 game ahead of the 3 seed. Highly unlikely there's any scenario where week 17 won't have some meaningful implication for them. Unless you're implying that getting to stay in New Orleans for the divisional round is less meaningful than getting all their starters some rest week 17. I'd rather play the Cardinals in the wildcard round, followed by the Rams/Seahawks (division winner) at home, rather than play the Bucs/Rams/Seahawks (wildcard) followed by traveling to the NFC west division winner's home for the divisional round.

Edited to add: There's also the very real possibility that the Saints lose to the Chiefs and Vikings, while the Bucs beat the Falcons and Lions over the next 2 weeks. If that happens, the Saints need to beat the Panthers just to avoid falling all the way to a wild card spot (probably 6 seed). I'm not at all worried there won't be anything for them to play for.

Every bad season the same talking point is made.

1.) Winning some games at the end of the bad season is more important than higher draft picks because you can get great players later in the draft. Winning creates an atmosphere of winning, gives the players confidence, and teaches them how to win.

This talking point, or some variation of it, shows up any time any team has a bad season. It was thought up by a moron who was wrong many years ago, and now fans repeat this old talking point so that they don't have to think for themselves. The people who want to see wins at the end of the season are people who follow their emotions in making decisions, and they have preloaded talking points made by someone else so that they don't have to think. They say the memorized taking point, and then switch off their brain. This drives intelligent people crazy, and they end up wrestling with the talking point to prove it wrong, but the emotional person doesn't care about the truth. The emotional person cares about what will feel good, and winning feels good. Losing feels bad. But they can't say that because that is dopey, so they repeat an old talking point someone else thought up 30 years ago or more.

high risk with a top 5 pick?

When you are talking about QB I think it’s a risk many teams will make. Lance has the tools to be great (arm, size, quickness) he just didn’t face much competition so there will be a learning curve. If our staff is smart with him he could be in the mold of Josh Allen (who didn’t play much competition and got beat badly when he did in college).

Dream scenario:

Sign Dak when Dallas lets him walk.
Draft another defensive stud (Surtain, Farley, Parsons)

go oline heavy in FA.

LETS GO BOYS!!!!!

Oh. Hmm. Yep. You sold me. The draft should also have some good Oline options. Dak seems like a very very good fit for our offense.
