We are Sitting Pretty at Pick 6, Pick 4 is very very Possible by Years End

Dallas will likely finish with 5 or 6 wins. Chargers could get more as well. We have the inside track to 4.

Cowboys have 49ers, Philly and Giants left. Very winnable.

I was going to make a thread but saw this. Cincinnati isn’t winning 2 games without Burrow and we aren’t catching the Jets and Jaguars. They have 1-3.

Dallas as you said should win at least one. Houston plays Cincinnati so they should win at least one. The Chargers have Denver, Las Vegas, who’ve been bad lately should have lost to the Jets bad and KC who could possibly not need to win if Pittsburgh loses tonight with 3 left. Atlanta plays Tampa twice. Atlanta won’t be KC but Tampa as a WC could be very tempted to rest starters week 17 as they will likely be locked into a WC.

If we lose out, I’d be surprised if we didn’t get the 4th pick. That would be phenomenal and if Lawrence throws a tizzy, it’s possible. If he does, our 1st, 2nd and next year’s first could do it. It would based on the charts but the Jets will not trade out unless Lawrence pulls and Elway/Manning. Getting to pick 4 would mean that the Jets could either get a stud or Wilson/Lance and an extra 2nd and 1st.

I would make that trade in a heartbeat. Wilson and Lance may be good, but Lawrence with Anderson, Moore and hopefully Samuel would be amazing. Wish we didn’t waste so much cap for 4-9, would have been nice to have an extra $90M, SMH, in 2022 when a rookie QB has some experience.

Either way, the value of picks 4 and 36/37 would be 2300+ instead of 2000. That’s the equivalent of a late 2nd so a nice jump for losing out.

Let's say Lawrence and Fields are off the board and Parsons and / or Sewell is sitting there.  Do you take the third/fourth best QB or the franchise LT/MLB?

Depends on if we like a QB that much. Sewell would be fine with me. I’m not exactly gaga over Parsons. Carter, Shaq and Chinn at LB has been decent. I think we’d get better on D much more with a shutdown CB, if one exists.

Honestly, if we don’t love Wilson or Lance, see if anyone really likes them and wants to move up. Float a rumor that we’re happy with Teddy and see who loves Wilson or Lance. There look to be a bunch of QB needy teams lining up behind us.

Payton isn't a braindead idiot like Hurney and Joe Brady; he'll let us win in the last game of the season to throw us back a few spots in the draft just like he conned the team into signing Bridgemanager

this is why Im going to be cheering for the saints these next two weeks. If they are tied for first w Green bay they will have home field and a BYE on the line in our week 17 match up. ideally they beat us and green bay wins as well making the game totally irrelevant.

Wilson or Lance if they fall in love with one. Or maybe Minshew balls out and they decide to go with Sewell at LT. The Bengals could go for something else since they have Burrow.

This is really hopeful thinking man. They will take Fields :100_Emoji_42x42:

It doesn't matter if he is the 3rd, 4th, or 5th QB.  If you think he has a realistic chance of being a franchise QB you take him in a heartbeat.

People get too caught up in positional rankings each year during the draft.  Teams grade on a scale independent of that.  What is the 4th QB this year could easily be the 2nd QB other years.

That doesn't mean you reach for a QB that should go in the bottom of the 1st, but if he is anywhere close you take the QB.

If Sewell is available and the Bengals make any other pick, Burrow should just go ahead and let the Bengals know that as soon as he can pass a physical he's demanding a trade.

I'm not really worried about the Bengals picking ahead of us for this reason.  They are one of the few teams I can see staying put for a non-QB (Sewell).

Other teams though, such as Dallas though I could see trading down if they got the right offer from a team looking for a QB.

I would feel much better picking at 4 instead of 6 for this reason.

Also I could see the Chargers staying put for Chase.  Seems like the perfect pick to put with Herbert.

That mad genius Sean Payton! Sacrifices a first round bye so he can stick it to the Panthers and drop us from pick 5 to pick 9, where we'll probably draft the same QB. This is why organizations like the Saints are perennial winners, by bucking conventional thinking. What's a 1st round bye in your last year of contention with Brees on his final leg and slated to be a billion dollars over the cap in 2021, when you can drop a bottom dwelling Panthers team a few spots in the draft? Gotta hand it to them. Didn't even cross my mind but that's why he gets paid the big bucks.
