There are benefits to throwing the ball beyond the sticks on 3rd down. Even if you don't complete the pass sometimes you get bailed out by a flag.

Paid Teddy too much and he’s not doing awful enough to get benched yet. With CMC out he’s probably going to get a pass this year as long as he doesn’t completely implode.
