I know a lot of people are saying who we should draft, but I really feel the wide open Free agency will dictate more than ever. More "older" guys will be available because of a cuts in the salary cap (so I see lineman here more than anything). I see us taking a few 27-31 years olds (that were cut for salary cap reasons) and cover most our needs and then go into the draft wide open to take almost anybody who's great n the board at that time of the pick. Keeping Moton will be key. Lose him and your 1st or 2nd RD pick is a tackle. I also don't think many young good players will be available for cheap because of the lower cap.

I still don't see a QB unless its a top 1-3 pick. It's still a crap shoot and would set back the team a couple of years if we got it wrong. I think building a strong team and then getting the QB of the future is better for his development and getting results/production quicker.

Personally I think they focus on both lines and a good DB and TE. Only WR if they don't keep Samuel, which I think they will. I don't think a team is gonna give him 12 mil a year for 1 really good year that could be a product of the OC. He might take a team friendly deal, even for just a year (I hope) and when the cap goes up, he cashing in if he still is posting good stats.

What's your thoughts on FA affecting the draft, what do you think they'll do or who do you think/hope they get in FA?

All I'm gonna say is that if we're having to choose between Samuel and Moton there's no choice to make. You HAVE to go with the starting OT over the #3 WR. We screwed up in our choice last year with Shaq > Bradberry, don't make the same mistake again. Positional value matters. It matters a LOT. The Panthers have historically displayed a stunning lack of understanding of this concept.

As good as Samuel has been this year, and make no mistake, he's been really good this year . . . Moton has to be the choice unless he prices himself ridiculously high.

I would love Curtis to stay, but our offense NEEDS Moton.

But hurndog gonna Hurney. Probably will extend Samuel 7 years and let Moton walk.

Also I really don't see how we can't extend both. Yes we will pay for Moton and Samuel but they are actually worth it unlike Shaq. Both are also still young and we more than likely will cut Shaq and Paradise in the next two years. I know that will more than likely mean letting Moore walk but Samuel is just as good WR if not better.

If they don't draft a QB in the first round I'm going to be pretty apathetic towards this team for the foreseeable future. Bridgewater and his noodle arm aren't going to win a Superbowl unless they can put together one of the best defenses in NFL history.

And I don't see Phil Snow's Charmin soft zone defense that allows guaranteed points on every single 2 minute drive at the end of the 1st half to every team the Panthers play being the solution at defensive coordinator.

Moton is a must. If Norwell is a cap-cut, I’d make a run at him at LG. There are quite a few productive DTs that are UFAs. A Vet guy like Johnathon Hankins could be helpful with run stuffing and eating blockers. There are some guys on cheap contracts that also have decent stats in terms of tackles and QB hits that could be worth a look. Imagine we’ll need to find a WR to replace Samuel - those journeymen slot guys are typically pretty cheap.

it would be nice to check off a few needs prior to the draft.

Agree with everything you said here. second tier DTs and WRs are not expensive, and our starters are under contract. I think we can also improve our interior Oline in the off season on the cheap. Paradis has actually been decent lately and cutting him only saves $5M next year. I still hope we use some mid round picks to set up the OL for a while. Hopefully, we can resign Douglas, or find another player like him on the cheap.
