Is Zach Wilson becoming the consensus Huddle pick?

God, remember this place after John Ross' 40?

The place goes crazy for WRs. I can never figure it out. Desean Jackson and Alshon are old, washed up, and can’t get on the field but as soon as anyone like that is available, Huddlers start going wild.

“Can you imagine how good this offense could be if we had AJ Green, Robby Anderson, DJ Moore, Josh Gordon, Curtis Samuel, Desean Jackson, and Mike Wallace!?!?”

edit: it’s even more mind boggling when it’s a guy that has proven that he doesn’t know how to play WR: Kevin White, Stephen Hill, Corderelle Patterson.

Zach Wilson is Pat Mahomes lite. He really is.

The only knock on him I saw from that game is that he didn't seem nearly as adept at throwing on the move as Mahomes is. IMO, that's one of the traits that really sets Mahomes apart. Burrow showed it last year at LSU too. Russell Wilson does it as well as anyone. Some guys can just throw the ball seemingly the exact same way whether they're set in the pocket, feet all over the place, on the run, whatever. Wilson showed he can throw on the move, but his accuracy when doing so was definitely impacted. That may be something that he can continue to develop though if he hasn't had to do it a lot. And honestly, it's nit picking. Virtually all QBs aren't nearly as good throwing on the move, there's just a handful that aren't and it's a huge competitive advantage.

I like him a lot as far as his skills, but I'm not without concerns.

The biggest thing for me is that I've seen physical questions that mirror what was being said about Teddy Bridgewater prior to his draft. Specifically, the notion that his body might not hold up under the pounding that an NFL player takes.

That's where I'm iffy.

If we take him, I hope we put a boatload of effort into protecting him.

(though truth be told, we need to do that with whoever we have)

If he can slide, and not get hit like RW and KM. We shouldn't have to worry about it. I think he will protect himself better than Cam did.

What? Lmfao

ACL and MCL tear and damage to his meniscus. That's a lot of damage inside a knee. They're predicting a "complete recovery." But if you've ever had a major knee injury, it's just not the same. I'm not saying he won't recover, but if he isn't showing the progress they think he should be come draft time or they see something that worries them, QB could be back on their list of needs. Again, it's not likely going to happen, but you can't just eliminate the possibility.

I just hope that a QB we really like is available. If that's Wilson, great. If it's Lance or Fields, that's great too.

I want Fields, but he's prolly gone where we pick...  so, I agree with this.  We just need a young, promising QB.

Yeah, his physicality is definitely my biggest concern. He's already had two surgeries on his throwing arm. That's about as big as injury red flags get with a QB. His medical evaluations are going to be pretty key. Then again, we did just see a QB with a broken hip go #3 overall. The hurdling defenders stuff is awesome to watch, but he's gotta knock that stuff off. He's not a 260 pound ox like Cam. I'm afraid he'll get broken trying that stuff at the NFL level. During the broadcast, they even said that QB coach John Beck has been preaching that to him. Basically that moving forward he has to start playing smarter in terms of preserving his body.

Drew Brees recovered from an injury that most believed he wouldn't.

Jake Delhomme had a common surgery and was never the same.

I'm glad I'm not the one who has to make these choices.

Garrappollo, Big Ben, Wentz---there are a few mid-level qbs in the NFL--and I would ask those of you who think a big program is required to mold top QBs--explain UCLA and Southern Cal.  Look at the intelligence, the release, the athleticism.  Instead of looking at the

What percentage of all NFL players come from big schools?  95% or so?  So for every 20 Everette Browns from big schools, there is a Kalil Mack from a small school.  So I don't know--does a QB from Alabama (Like Mac Jones) look better because he has 3 first round WRs and a stud 5 OL.  How would he do in Jax?

    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
