Remember we are likely to be without critical personnel against Denver due to our current 'Rona outbreak. If that doesn't get resolved, I don't really see us as likely to beat them.

I hoped to see the Saints, Packers, Steelers, and 1985 Bears on the schedule, but damn this NFL is loaded with terrible teams this year.

I know you are not a conspiracy theorist--seen too much of your thinking on here--this sure suggests that they want Lawrence---and nobody else. If this becomes an issue, it could be the event that might lead to a formula where the NFL changes the way draft picks are determined.  I would love to see the question/answer from the presser.

Yeah, would love to hear the DC explain that.  Some stat dude at ESPN crunched numbers of that scenario and it was crazy.  No one has ever run that coverage in the last 400 comparables or something nuts.

You would think to intentional lose (if that were true) that Adam Gase would have to think he was coming back next year.   He didn't draft Darnold I don't think.  Think he came in the year prior so maybe?

The guys really were blitzing, though. I think they just did something dumb. After all, one of their DB's was cussing about Gregg Williams after that play. I think that an aggressive DC(and we know he is) opted to send the pressure instead of make the safe play.

the corner was an undrafted rookie that gave up the TD.

I have always argued that no team has ever actually tried to lose a NFL game.  Future jobs depend too much on games.  Players don't care about draft picks.   They need good film to stay employed.

I don't think the players were in on anything.  But it sure does look like the Jets coaching staff dialed up the ideal scenario for the Raiders to have a shot.   But that conspiracy really on works if Gase and staff have been told they will be back.   So if they are retained to "draft their QB".....I'll believe they did their best to put their players in a losing position.

Yeah and I don't think anyone think Gase isn't a dead man walking.

We beat the Aints, lose the rest.

See the post above. With GB having the “easier” tough game left, it most likely that NO will have to win to secure the top seed. Only if NO beats KC and wins out and GB loses to TN would week 17 not matter. I think it’s more likely that they both lose 0 or both lose 1 or NO loses 1/GB loses 0 than any other outcome. All of those make our week 17 game a must win for NO.

People forget that there is only one bye this year. That will limit the amount of "sitting" of players unless that has already been locked up in Week 17.

The only clear and fair answer is for the Jets to lose their 1st round pick and give it to Carolina.

Geez, only saw a quick replay of that. I definitely agree that the Jets DC put them into the worst possible position to win the game. In the replay he even highlights the wrong guy spying Carr. Watch one of the safeties come up and do that. The front 7 100% blitzes and one of the safeties runs up to be completely out of the play.

I can honestly say that I’ve never seen a Hail Mary situation like that with 3 WRs on 3DBs and none of the LB/S/slot CBS are deep. Look at the formation. I can’t tell if the LB on the top is a slot CB but he blitzes anyway. 3 of 11 defenders past the LOS at the 46. That’s the only way the Raiders get open and it’s not a lucky bounce Hail Mary. That wasn’t even a Hail Mary, that was just a long TD pass hit in stride.

I stand by my prediction. It's going to be a must win game for NO that they lose. Division games are weird, Aints have several times under Payton lost games to division rivals they shouldn't have lost late in the season. Thought we might beat the Broncos but now I don't think we will with our roster likely to be decimated by COVID. Skins are better than their record and Ron will definitely get the players up for that game. We're not winning in Lambeau.

I've never been convinced a team tried to lose a game in the NFL....until yesterday.  That final play of the Jets game.  The Jets intentionally ran a defensive coverage to maximize the Raiders ability to pull off the upset.   No doubt.    No NFL team runs 4 men in man coverage on a hail marry lob w/ no S help.

I've seen them install players that give them less of a chance.  Never seen coaches call plays to cater to the opponent like that.

It was Gregg Williams. That's how he is.

And now he's fired. Kinda hard to imagine somebody committing to something that gets them fired.

As to the Panthers, I'm guessing we lose to the Saints if they still have something to play for (and I think they will).

To be honest, it's not really that hard to see us losing to the WTF. they've got a pretty good defense and they've been better on offense since starting Alex Smith.

The Packers? Pick your favorite metaphor for losing badly. It's likely to apply.

The only real tossup I see is this week against the Broncos. Don't know how that one's gonna come out.

It will be interesting to see if people talk about this---the NY media is not going to let this go like Charlotte would---If Williams feels "thrown under the bus" it could become a scandal.  Still, if I am the head coach and I hear the DC calling that nonsense, I call time out or interrupt Williams.  He heard it and it happened.   Of course, the NYC media might side with the decision because they too are in tank mode.
