Do you believe Joe Person is correct 100% of the time?

When the sale of the Panthers was taking place Joe Person was in fact wrong pretty much 100% of the time.

If Joe Person said such a thing (Hurndog "overruled" Rhule) I believe Joe was wrong...

...that's not how Tepper conducts business.

(beware of allowing Joe Person to serve as your compass, his ability to indicate true north is pitiful)

I believe Joe person has actual sources whereas you have no real information whatsoever and are just making stuff up based on a TV show you watch.

if you actually think people are going to listen to this stuff, you should probably think again.

In relation to that dumb "Kuechly is GM" comment...

How about Dan Morgan? He is currently director of pro personnel for the Bills

Morgan has the resumé to be a legitimate candidate...

...but not a connection to Matt Rhule.

(which I suspect will be an important thing for the next GM to have)

I sit here and read this forum everyday. We sit here and argue how we are going to retain Moton and Samuel.  Two very key players on our team.  Yet  I Iook at teams like the Rams, Saints, Pittsburgh and others.  They have tons of great players and seem to always retain them.

I am not a cap guy.  I love the opinions on this forum and I want to know how do we get to that level of other franchises without gutting the whole team and starting over with a bunch of scrubs.

We've started well with Burns, Brown, Chinn, CMC, Moore and YGM plus some other hopefuls.

How do we keep them all and make this a franchise that continually competes for the playoffs.

First, I believe we have to get rid of Hurney.  It's nothing personal but the guy continually drafts poorly.  Makes terrible decision on retaining players.  Letting the good ones walk and overpaying players on the downside of their careers.

So we fire Hurney.  Who's the best options and how do we become a great franchise?

We F'd up our chance to really help the team long term last offseason, and the one before...however there are ways to straighten this out.

Bring in a "football guy" to be the President of Football Operations.

Replace Marty Hurney.  That is a sentence that I cannot believe I'm still typing on this board but alas.

Prepare for 1 really really tough season (we were set up for 2020 to be this, and Marty, Rhule, and Tepper completely F'd that up) in which we win hardly any, if any games (as Panthers fans we are kinda already prepared for this), and cut as much dead weight off the roster as possible.  If you are over 30, see ya, if you are over 28 and on a long term contract, see ya.  Get ALL of the dead money off the books in 1 year, and move on from any bad contracts for non premium positions.

Now, we still need to do this to be a consistent winner sooner, but I think we will drag it out for years and continue to be a meddling team in the NFL.

Pal, I only mentioned the show because I thought it was something folks might be familiar with and could relate to.

The Axe character is a composite of a number of the guys I mentioned in the response to the last comment you made --- did you read that response?  Recognize any of those names?

While he's a nice guy Joe Person is a hack.  There isn't a single sports reporter in Charlotte who is even half-assed....it's laughable really.

It's... a... TV show.

It doesn't give you any insight into how things work in David Tepper's organization.

Focus here pal, we're not talking about the TV show....

....we're talking about the 7 hedge fund managers listed in my post in response to your comment....

....you familiar with any of them?  (other than Tepper obviously)

For the record, all are peers of David Tepper...want to venture a guess on which one answers to "Izzy"?

Gimme a second or two to figure out whether I care.

Nope. Not one bit.

Frankly, it doesn't matter if you've read information about a dozen or a hundred hedge fund managers. It still gives you no insight into how the Panthers are run.

(and it sure as heck doesn't give you any standing to discount information from people who do)

LOL...you don't care because you're afraid of being wrong.

All 7 were clients of our firm and 5 of them were my client personally...

...so yeah --- I do have some very specific insight into exactly how those guys operate on a daily if not hourly basis.

BTW, Izzy is what Mr. Englander answers to...his first name is Israel.

Pay attention and you might learn something...

PS:  One of those guys was the canary in the coal mine as it goes to the ultimate failure of Lehman Brothers --- want to take a guess which one made the early call?

Oy :eyeroll:

Look, dude, I'm guessing you think this stuff impresses people. It doesn't. Hell, for all we know you just googled a bunch of crap.

But again, whether any of this is legit or not, I don't care.

Either way, this stuff damn sure doesn't make anybody think you know football or have any meaningful insight into the Panthers.

You don't, and the ridiculous efforts you're going to in order to make people think you do are futile.

I don't claim to be an expert on "football" but I damn sure know how Tepper and his brethren run a business and you can be assured that as an organization the Panthers are adapting their job functions and daily activities to Tepper's model --- not vice-versa.

In the Appaloosa model there is no "GM" in the traditional sense (like Lynch or Beane) so all the hand-wringing and blaming as it goes to Hurndog is unnecessary and off-base.  Tepper will never hire a GM and give him powers akin to what Lynch & Beane have...

...that level of power only resides within one person --- Tepper himself.

Also, Marty is going nowhere.  Tepper's world hinges on a single key input --- information.  Marty is seen as an excellent source of information and Tepper will continue to utilize him in that role (as well as main PR guy on radio, etc) as long as Marty wants to do it.

Sit back and watch....

PS:  One of those 7 was a notable collector of modern art, want to guess which one?  His office was littered with $100's of millions of artwork, it was incredible (if you're ever in NYC go by the Lever House Building, now and then some of it still gets displayed in the lobby there).  Hint: He had to unwind the firm after the fed's targeted him, unfairly in the opinion of many.
