I don't think that's it. I think they're well aware of his value and what he's going to command and that he deserves that.

This would make me think that spending top money on OL isn't part of their plan. Which is......F!

Well, that thought's gonna give me nightmares.

One of my hopes was that with Rhule having some offensive line coaching in his background, we were going to start paying more attention to that part of the team.

If that's not the case, well sh-t :poison:

Imagine thinking he broke it when it’s been common sense thinking ever since Hurney didn’t extend either before the season.

All these “insiders” sure have such big scoops that fans have pointed out for months

That fact that you still make these posts after all the poo you talked about the Cam situation tells me everything I need to know about you.

You mean how I expressed how I would like them to keep him but totally understood if they didn’t?

And I still think keeping Cam for the last year vs what we have Teddy would have been the smarter play, we would have gotten similar win-loss and had less money out on a lame duck QB.

But yes, go off on my opinion and how that negates you have “sources” to break things like Carolina letting good players walk when they’ve been doing it for years with Hurney at the helm lmao

I always get a kick out of the people that think the Cam decision was a spur of the moment type thing

Also, the CMC draft pick he told me in March that draft year

Hell, Rodrigue said in a Q&A that Tepper was iffy on Newton pretty much from the time he bought the team.

She also reported that both Ron and Marty were up for offering him an extension but Tepper nixed it.

I honestly cannot fathom letting Moton walk.    How can our staff potentially be that incompetent?    How long has the NFL proven OT is the 2nd most important position on the field?

poo like this is so discouraging as a fan.   fug Marty Hurney.    I have no hope for the future with that clown around.

Tepper wasn't iffy on Cam until he couldn't stay on the field. That's definitely not true.

If I remember her report correctly, that was what she said concerned him.

That Q&A was a while ago though. Not sure I could even still find it online.

Pretty sure you’re spot on. Originally I think it was Tepper was evaluating everything and everyone and devolved into souring on Cam when he couldn’t see the field.

Sorry let me rephrase “I think the article Jordan posted stated” is that better lmao. I have no sources on the team nor claim to just saying I believe Scot was right about the article posted when Tepper had bought the team.

This isn't totally wrong - absolutely things could change. It is December 4th, afterall (I think).

What's concerning is that if this is the talk/thought now - and it seems like a lot of people covering the team have gotten this info - then that means there's a reason they don't want to sign him. And if that's the case....what changes their minds? It's not like he needs to prove if he's a top OL - he's already shown he's elite. Hell, it was obvious last year that he was on his way to elite so they should have done it then if they were going to. This would make me think that spending top money on OL isn't part of their plan. Which is......F!

Maybe because he's a RT and not a LT?

But that is crazy to me. IMO it doesn't matter what side your elite OL is on, you just need one. Then you can plan and scheme protection towards your weakness.

Fua and I were talking about it the other day.....paying $6-$7M to Samuel as a WR3 and not $14-$15M to Moton is going to be wild.

No decisions from this organization should be able to achieve a level of idiocy that is surprising to anyone at this point.

If Tepper doesn't go out and get some legit front office personnel this is going to be a recurring theme. There's a reason why none of the other 31 teams even entertained the idea of entertaining Marty Hurney after he was fired the first time. This whole situation of Hurney still being here is nothing short of absolutely baffling.

It's not at all unusual for fired general managers to latch on with another team in some front office personnel role. Hell, Ryan Grigson had another NFL job within four months of the Colts dumping him.

In five years, nobody looked at Marty for even so much as a low level scouting or consultant job.

There were reports (and I believe even quotes from Hurney) that they hadn't initiated contract talks because they are waiting to see what happens with the salary cap next season.  That could ultimately be the deciding factor...and hell, could maybe even be considered a rational levelheaded decision that Hurney isn't exactly known for when it comes to dishing out massive contracts.

Although that type of wait-and-see conservatism seems like a shot that would stem from the top, rather than it being a unilateral Hurney call.  Hard to believe Tepper is giving Hurney this type of incredibly impactful autonomy when he's on the last year of his contract and there is no indication yet of any extension in the works.
