Plus, ain't no decent P5 team trying to take on a very good mid-major on short notice. That's all risk no reward.

I remember Paterno once saying he'd schedule Akron for every game if he could.

I can't say if that attitude is prevalent among college coaches, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Not anymore it's not. With the CFP you have to look good winning, and beat quality opponents. You want to see the equivalent of playing Akron every game? Look at BYU's schedule, and look where they're ranked in the CFP Rankings. Not good.

ND isn't beating Clemson. LOL. So, that point in null invoid.

They made it clear, but they've also stated how if Ohio State doesn't play more games they're out. The CFP lead said they were already having that discussion this week. They will if Ohio State doesn't play games, they've already came out and said it.

Can you link to it.

From what I have read from the CFP they are already downplaying the normal order of things.   Which means they ain't going to let COVID be the reason a team ain't in.

I hope Coastal beats the ever loving sh!t out of them and gets a BCS bowl. Think about where Coastal’s athletic program was 10-15 years ago and now they have a College World Series national championship and a shot at a BCS game.

I believe, and could be wrong, the CFP has OSU in if they remain undefeated. The issue was would the Big10 play them in a championship game if they didn’t have the 6 qualifying games under their belt since the rule was you need 6 to be in the big game. The conference has said recently if OSU is undefeated they would adjust the rule to allow them to play for the conference championship to not block them from a chance to play for the national championship.

Surely there is a better game on TV Saturday than Myrtle Beach state university vs the Fightin’ Romney’s.

how the hell are they ranked so high?

There might be better games on but the more film you have on these QBs the better decision we can make on them.

I don't get to watch as much college football as I used to, but as often as not when I do it's because I want to see a particular player.

that my understanding generally as well.  I just think if the Big10 doesn't adjust the rule...the CFP isn't going to suddenly pretend like they aren't one of the top 4 teams.

would be like if Clemson's game Saturday gets canceled because of COVID.   Are you going to drop Clemson from the top 4 because they don't play this week? They don't get to play ND in the Championship game without playing this Sat.   Clemson wouldn't have enough games in.  Miami would go to the title game vs ND based on ACC rules.

I wasnt really commenting on the quality of CC just the comment about playing someone in 3 days that you havent studied or game planned at all.  If he lights it up under those circumstances he will rocket even more up the boards.  If he falters I think things cool off until the combine or their bowl game at least.

To be fair, CCU has circumstances here too. I know they aren't traveling, but CCU spent the week preparing for Liberty just to stop and try to prepare for a team that most think is a better team than they are in a couple of days.

Hats off to both teams for making this happen. Obviously BYU is favored, but CCU is not a joke, they have a really good team. The CCU coach is going to make a lot of money somewhere one day.

Another quality opponent. BYU favored by 10. Let's see what the boy has got once again.

I mentioned this yesterday in another thread. I will be at this game. My daughter is a Sophomore at CCU, and we had tickets to the CCU/Liberty game, which is now BYU. I am stoked to see Wilson play.  I have been to a couple of CCU games already, the Chants have a good team with a few NFL caliber players on their team. BYU should be favored, but this could be a really good game.

It was a quote from the CFP Chair earlier this week, that was looking the difference between Ohio State and A&M. He said A&M has played more games, and that is a huge talking point as of right now with the committee. The room is almost split on it. 60/40 at this time. At some point the games played have to matter, and that is going to be the case every Tuesday until the final rankings, unless Ohio State plays a few more. Which might happen with the new CDC guildelines, but we'll see.
