Well, well, well. Zach Wilson is playing Coastal Carolina on Saturday 12/5 at 5:30 PM ESPNU.

Why would anyone think that? Though BYU is basically playing a Sunbelt conference this year the Sunbelt is a much stronger conference than the WCC.

Why would anyone think BYU was going to kill them? Going into the game they had:

1) Killed everyone they played.

2) Have an NFL QB playing for them and is potentially a top 10 pick.

3) Their offensive line going into this week was graded as the second best line in college football.

4) Vegas had them at 10 point road favorites despite both teams being in lesser conferences and playing lesser competition.

Washington offered to play them at one point and they ducked that. They took this game because they thought they would kill those boys. A lot of us did.

Well both teams only had a few days to prepare as well.  Cats on here make it seem like CCU we're preparing all week while BYU only got two days.

The team making the cross country trip on three days' notice was at a significant disadvantage vs. the team staying at home.

Firs time I’ve really sat down and watched Wilson outside of some YouTube. Was impressed despite the lost. Some high caliber throws.

Yes.  He made the deep outs and pretty much put the ball where it needed to be when it needed to be there.  I do not understand the terrible ol play or the WRs dropping passes like they did.

They had 1/3 less time to be on a field, etc. CCU is a great story--not dismissing that, and BYU was, much like most teams out west, overrated.  I was only interested in the QB--and I was impressed with his grit, his throws, and his athleticism.  Some think you measure a player by the scoreboard, as if the 10 teammates and 11 opponents have no role in that process.

Yep, even ignoring the OL play, BYU wins if the receivers catch the ball. Wilson did his job despite nearly non-existent protection. That's all you can ask of your QB. If your receivers are dripping well thrown balls that's a receivers problem.

I'm sure if Coastal Carolina flew out to Provo to play this game, the outcome would've swung the other way to BYU's favor.

As for Wilson, I still have him as the 4th best QB in this draft...same as before this game. His performance against CCU did nothing to move the needle either way for me.

I think that's a fair take.
