I don't know why I'm asking because the stats seem to heavily favor the guys who get more opportunities, but what's the story on Bravvion Roy?

The fact Browns pass rush grade is higher than his run defense grade is probably a bit of a surprise to most people.  Everyone expected him to start out better against the run.  From what I've seen and read some of his run defense issues has been gap disciplined.

Also I'm pretty sure the penalties are really hurting his grade.  Giving a team a first down on a third down you had stopped, is basically like a turnover.  Those are huge plays that have big outcomes on games.

Also you stated that his game to game grades have had a huge variance, from what I read on one of PFF's recaps was that he struggles against the better O-lineman, which actually makes sense for a rookie.  Against a lesser player he can just rely on his natural abilities, but the better O-linemen you probably need better technique.

Also before someone points out that some of the stats between Kerr and Brown seem similar or even better for Brown (24 pressures to 16 pressures) but Kerr has a better grade, you have to look at snap counts.  Brown has played a lot more snaps.

PFFs grading system starts at a baseline and moves up or down based on each snap.  That is why sometime you see a guy with only a handful of snaps in a game with a high grade.

Yeah, Brown has had some BRUTAL mental errors on some of those penalties this year. I would imagine that has a big impact, as do his 3 missed tackles at DT. I am sure that was a big hit to his rating on those plays.

I think the biggest thing is that Kerr has been CONSISTENTLY good versus Brown who is great at times and terrible at times. But, he's a rookie. He does have a learning curve. If you look at most of our rookies they are making rookie mistakes(even Chinn). As long as we are seeing more good than bad(and we are for the most part), I am okay with that.
