Honest question, is he even that good? I don’t get many UNC games in Utah, but the ones I have seen, I haven’t really been that impressed.

Yeah, he is IMO. One of the things I really like about him is that defense puts him in awful situation after awful situation and he doesn't blink. Dude has ice water in his veins. One of the best deep ball throwers I've seen, period.

I’m definitely interested in him. I meant to catch the Norte Dame game but missed it house hunting (the market is fugin brutal right now). I’m going to make a point to watch the Miami game coming up if it airs here.

You didn't miss much in the ND game. First two drives were great but after that DN's DL just manhandled UNC's OL. They were getting pressure immediately rushing four and sometimes only three. Howell didn't have a fighting chance.

I watched Wilson for 1 game, Lance for 0 and Howell maybe a dozen.  I would talk Wilson all day long even if I was guaranteed the 1st pick next year.

Everyone is concerned about Wilson's competition and I understand that, but I'm more concerned about his injury history. He's a pretty frail built guy with a history of injuries specifically on his throwing arm.

I'd take Howell all day everyday if it was between him and Wilson, but we'll see how their NFL careers turn out.

He has a nice deep ball and shows zip on intermediate routes.  His stats however are a product of a wide open system and that concerns me a bit.  As of right now I wouldnt put him above any of the top four.  TL, Fields, Wilson or Lance.

For the record I have seen 98% of Trevors games, probably 4 total and highlights of Fields, highlights of Lance and Wilson and probably 10 full of Howells games.

If you liked Johnny Manziel you'll like Sam Howell

Nah he is not as athletic as Manziel but their throwing style is similar.  I would say he is a really poor mans brett Farve at this stage in the game.  I dont dislike him but I sure as hell dont think he is a top 5 pick this year and in no way better than the top guys this year.

What college offense isn't wide open these days? The NFL is following suit. The college game has been the primary driver of innovation in the game for awhile now.

Nah man I am just saying his gaudy stats should be taken with a grain of salt.  Not saying he isnt good.  But their offense is spread them out wide open.  Just like with trask that gives me a bit of concern as he is just throwing to open spaces/wideouts where as someone like Trevor is calling audibles at the line and throwing dimes into coverage

all I am saying is its hard to really drill down and evaluate guys in offenses like howel.  He does throw a nice deep ball

Manziel is an awful comparison for Howell. Howell has some mobility, but Manziel was a terrific runner in the college game. Howell isn't that.

Similar throwing motion, similar arm strength, similar 'backyard' playing style.

He could be his brother.

His stats have to be gaudy. That D can't stop anything. They know they have to win with basketball scores.

Don't lie to yourself. Trevor is largely throwing to guys who are wide ass open. He's a tremendous prospect but the big question with him is how is he going to look when his team's backups aren't better than the opposition's starters.
