There are zero reasons why Moton was not extended last off season.

Instead of extending Moton and James a year before they would have hit free agency, we instead spent that money on Shaq, Teddy, Anderson, and KK.

Dumb team.

Hurney gonna hurndog. We just have to pay the price this season and deal with it. Which ever it is extension or tag.

Marty's Tanked this team like its 2010 all over again

Fixed that for you.

Tanking is what we did when we kept Ron and Marty on for 1 too many seasons.  We had already tanked, it was time to start building our way toward a complete roster overhaul, Marty didn't see this and continued on trying to win.

Now we have even bigger of a mess to clean up.

It would be absolutely insane to let Moton walk, but if we did and decided to not tag him and trade him we should just give up all hope on building a winning franchise. The Falcons traded Sanu for a 2nd round pick and he couldn’t even make the Patriots roster the following year and he was in his 30’s. No way we can’t get a 2nd round pick for Moton

Moton was not resigned when he would’ve been reasonable because there was no money, most dead cap in the NFL, it would’ve taken a genius GM to figure that out, which we don’t have.

I know a lot of our fans weren’t here for the entirety of Hurney 1.0, but let me clear up it for you. Hurney is a double edged sword. Either he is not signing who he should be, signing who he shouldn’t be, or letting good players walk for no compensation OR he’s super interested and overpays them immensely bringing us back to the top of this post. This is the Hurney cycle. Get used to it.

Every time this team says it builds through the draft in a conference I gag. You don’t draft players like Norman, Norwell, Bradberry and Moton only to spend their future money like an idiot on a crippled Olsen, Gano, Olsen, KK, or M. Kalil...

We do NOT build through the draft.

Answer:

He don't play here anymore.

Are you referring to the QB with these stats in 2020?:

2020 season stats · YDS 1,984 23rd · TD 4 30th · INT 9 Tied-23rd · QBR 50.6 26th.

What's long been a profile (and complaint) with Marty is that he only thinks a year at a time.

Even in the draft.   The best drafters understand that next year's needs are not best filled by rookies. Most rookies underpeform. After rounds 1 and maybe 2, you are drafting for depth and holes that will be needing filling in 2-3 years down the road.

I disagree with the "no money" thing.

There was money, Hurney just spent it in all the wrong places.

Moton is 6'5" 325 pounds. How much longer before he has a lower body or back injury? How much longer before his body starts breaking down, and that 325 pounds weighs him down and he becomes Mr. IR? If he receives a big fat contract and something on his heavy body starts hurting he'll be holding hands with Okung on the bench counting his money. And the Huddle will blame Hurney for signing him long term. Why not draft a fresh new RT in the 2nd or 3rd and save a ton of money? I'm not saying that is the best course of action, but I can see how not resigning Moton might be a good idea.

Then the pick traded for Greg Little.  The Patriots picked Chase Winovich.

Dammit

Winovich had a mildly impressive rookie year. Been in the doghouse for much of this season though... Sounds familiar?
