Whoever said the T market was 2 strong is not exactly accurate. The LT from Notre Dame (Liam something) looked good so far. Cosmi from texas, the LT from NDSU, Walker Little from Stanford is interesting--he missed 2019 (injury) and 2020 (Covid)--he will drop.  I like Carmen from Clemson as a RT, etc--There are a few others--no stars, but there is some talent- just remember, a good T does not make it to free agency.

You take the dumbass Shaq money back.  You cut KK.  you go with a rookie over semi-retired LT Okung at $13m per game.  You cut Weatherly.  You even cut Paradis if you must.   You do not lose Moton--you pay him market value.

I think the plan is to tag him and sign him during the 2021 season, if not sooner--unless Hurney decides to lock down Reed and Manhertz long term.

Heard he wants to extend Whitehead as well

As much as I would like Wilson next to 95, I can't see it happening. Wilson is a first round pick, and we cannot draft another DT in the first

not everyone can be a first round pick. I think due to FSU's abysmal season this year and a weird draft process he falls to round 2

KK should have been a first rounder and we got him in the second

I'd have to go back and look but I think Person's article in The Athletic indicated that the team was probably going to bring back both Manhertz and Reed.

It isn't often that you will find an OT as good as Okung without paying a mega-premium. The only reason we go him for what we did was because he is near the end of his career. He's been the best LT we have had since Gross.

"When healthy"...

We still HAVEN'T EVEN BEGAN talks with Moton

Thats the crazy thing

Which would lead to speculation that maybe we're not going to, crazy as that sounds.

I mean, if we sign him and he is somehow is healthy for 2 years, then great, but there's risk involved in Okung.  The miss was not re-signing Moton last season.  It's not the end of the world but this crew needs to prove they're trying to build an OL. We have ourselves a homegrown long term lineman on our hands.  We should've made this work.

Overall, it really wasn't a bad go at it this past year, left guard and center were the question marks going in but we're opening it back up into another rebuild.  People were high on Daley going in and cautious about Paradis.  Daley has been banged up along with Okung, and then that lack of talent make Paradis look even worse than his post-injury self.

I actually like Miller.  Totally viable at RG.

But we've got to find two tackles, center, & likely LG (Daley is perpetually injured).  Needs to happen via re-signing, draft & FA.

Moton is making money next year...(I know he's not an LT but spotrac identifies the snaps he played there)

I'd take a stab at something like Le'Raven Clark next year but it's slim pickings at tackle.

If I understood him correctly, he's talking about what it would take to sign somebody like Okung, not Okung himself.

I don't think Okung is going to cost much.

He hasnt been healthy in over 5 years.  2 years removed from having a injury that they thought was going to end his career.  He considered retirement prior to this season, while not being able to stay on the field this year.   Plus he's not a young pup.

I think we could afford Moton and Okung, but nit sure id resign him and use that cap elsewhere say on Curtis Samuel

Why even bother even if he is on a vet minimum?  That makes no sense

I mean

If we get through Free Agency and the draft.  Not drafting another OT, while still not comfortable with Little, id consider him at Vet minimum Then if he's still around.  But he's at the bottom of the list.  Get the other guys signed and drafted then evaluate the option of bringing him back

Unfortunately, I don't think he's going to play much either.

I just can't see bringing him back, but Lord knows stranger things have happened.

Paradis has been pretty good this year, so I can't agree that he has looked worse than last year.

Miller is a JAG but he's the best of the JAG's we have at guard. I don't have a problem bringing him back on another 1 year so that is just one less hole we have to fill in the short term. Obviously we need to upgrade from him in the long term.

If we do indeed let Moton go and Okung doesn't return, we are going to be in a very tough spot next season. It will absolutely become a critical need and it would legitimately put a lot more stress on our offseason moves and draft picks. The big concern I have with the list that Person has(if it is at all accurate) is that we will go going through the same kind of offseason that we did last offseason, with many, many, many more needs to fill than we can reasonably accomplish.

It's difficult to ever pull out of the talent deficiency if you are constantly having to find the bulk of your starters every season.

We don't know what Okung has planned for his future. He mulled retirement after the trade, so I guess we will see how that works out. If he finishes out the remainder of the season healthy, I wouldn't be against re-signing him on a 1 year if the price is right. ESPECIALLY if we are going to let Moton walk. We can't be replacing two good OT's because we don't have any competent OT's even on the roster currently.

To me, it will be a very bad sign for the offseason if we lose both our starting tackles after getting very good play from that position this season.
