Teddy Bridgewater: Panthers may have panicked late against Vikings

Speaking of panic. Teddy panicked on his first pick in the red zone yesterday. Anderson was on a crossing route & would have been wide open if Teddy would not have panicked & decided to throw the check down to Davis in the crowded middle of the field.

Ummm. No. That was a bad play design that had two recievers on top of each other right on the LB's line. Davis thought the ball was going to Anderson too, why else would he have pulled up?

I remember someone asking for context of the quote yesterday because they said it couldn't possibly be as bad as it sounded.

Welp...  it sounds worse with the full quote lol.  He threw the coaches all the way up under the bus while admitting he would rather have ran a run and not scored versus just hitting a wide open receiver for a score to go up 2 scores again and effectively end the game.

He is exposing his panic, not anyone else's.  These late game situations, there is no better description of his play but panicked, and it has nothing to do with his coaches.  New Orleans, 1st game against Tampa, Chicago, 2nd game against Atlanta, KC, and yesterday...  all of them ended with Teddy making a bone headed play (or series of them) and effectively ending the game.

Yep. Teddy is projecting his panic. HE panicked.

It was not like Brady drew up a new play in the sand. Teddy knew where the routes were going. Teddy panicked because he could not go through his 20 seconds worth of checks. That was a wide open pass & he can only point the finger to himself.

His presnap reads & checks have really become annoying. He continuously snaps the ball at 00 seconds on the clock & still makes the wrong read or audible.

Snapping the ball that late does not help the oline because the defense can fire off based on the time left on the clock.

I think I have seen enough of Teddy, especially if he cannot take blame for that last pass.

Yup, been saying it all year...  he will literally look at a defense for 12 seconds and then check out of the play with no time left on the clock and barely get it off and the play ends up going for nothing.  He does it all the time.  That play preceding the INT in the redzone yesterday was a prime example.  He checked out of the original play at the last second to a run, it went for nothing and we end up 3rd and 14 with him panicking and throwing it into the heart of the defense for an INT.  That was all on Teddy.

And now here, we have him admitting he would've preferred to check out of a guaranteed score and victory if he could throw worth a poo, in favor of a run.  You can't make this up.

Teddy's failings aside the coaches deserve some serious throwing under the bus for their performances as well. I'm starting to question is Rhule will ever be a successful NFL coach based on end of game performances and I think frankly Rhule is too right now.

How do they deserve some serious throwing under the bus? Can you break down why? They are literally working with a backup QB, backup RB, solid WR's, and offensive line Mr. Scot/know it all thinks is hot ass, and a defense with 6 Rookies starting and the youngest defense in the past 10 years. Can you give me reason why a bunch of Rookie NFL coaches deserve the blame? They have exceeded expectations in my book, and if we had a competent QB that wasn't so mediocre-poo we would have 7 wins by now.

Those are all excuses and this is NFL, at least Rhule doesn't make excuses like that and see how he's fugged up.

Rhule will be fine. The guy has an all new staff (a lot from college) no offseason, most turnover in the league year over year by a large margin, largest dead cap in the league and it’s not even close, youngest defense in a decade, etc. He blamed himself for the loss yesterday and reacted like a true leader. He will be fine. Hell we already matched the amount of wins I expected for the entire season. We had an almost all vet team last year and had the same results, this year we have much less talent and have played the entire year almost without our MVP CMC

I am absolutely exhausted of this fan base trying to find a coach to blame, when the personnel is hot ass. And your QB, which you thought was going to be at least average, is mediocre-poo. This is some weird ass poo. Analyst everywhere have given love to how Rhule and company have been in every game but two. But, we have Panthers fans trying to blame a bunch of Rookie NFL coaches, when a 27 year old QB has been hot ass, and continues to poo down his leg when it matters. It's weirdo poo man. Weirdo poo.

Thats because he's told to clock management-wise, not because it's a teddy thing. PJ that's on the coaches not TB last week.

Honestly I think people are focusing on the missed TD there way to much out of what teddy said. Watching both QB's its pretty clear Brady's calls are coming in late and inconsistent.

I understand he should use all the play clock in the 4th with a lead, but Teddy has consistently snapped the ball with 0 seconds on the clock all year even after breaking the huddle with 20 seconds left. He does it at the start of each game & also when we have been behind late in games.

He just seems to do an awful lot of pre-checks that end up with a short dump off for three yards.

I have noticed Suckwater keeps using the word “We” instead of “I”.
That is super annoying.

This came up earlier in the year. Someone said that was something Matt Rhule wanted, players using "we" so that it was always a team thing.

I'm not a fan. I'd much rather hear players speak for themselves, and a lot of them do.

Bridgewater uses the "we" though, and it rubs people the wrong way.

    • We can't afford to reach for one of the first round QBs this year. I would love for nothing more than Bryce to be the reason we don't even scout the bastards
