Today's game and this season couldn't be going any better!

Honestly I don't get why people are upset with how this season has gone, as a die hard Panthers fan since the beginning, I'm thrilled right now.

We came into this season predicted by almost every expert to be one of, if not THE, worst team in the entire league, with the youngest defense the league has seen in over a decade, a first year HC with most of the staff having little to no NFL experience, a new QB, and having lost all of our locker room leaders from last year.

And all of that on top of a season during a pandemic, that had no mini camps, minimal training camp, no pre season, and significantly less time, and even less quality time, to meet as a team to watch film and prepare for games properly.

We have been competitive in basically every game and have 6 of our 8 losses by one score or less, had we pulled some of them out, we'd have a shot to sneak into the playoffs for likely a first round exit.  This was never going to be a year that we would legit contend for a title, and yes, while an outside shot at a playoff spot looked possible at one point, in reality, squeaking into the playoffs and losing quickly would likely have hurt the long term future of the team due to the lesser draft position.

Our young defense is growing and showing lots of bright spots, with a lot of mental errors, which is to be expected from such a young team and such difficult circumstances to this season.  When we lose games because of those dumb mistakes by young players, I'm happy about it, check that, I'm THRILLED with it.

As those are things that will get corrected, especially from a coaching staff that seems to take losses to heart, puts it on themselves, and genuinely wants to get better as coaches and coaching up the players to be better in the future.

We lose a game on a missed FG and some of you are upset?

I say HELL YEAH!!

Again, we're not contending this year, that missed FG just bumped up our draft pick about a dozen spots in each round as of right now.  Losses like this that we've had this year will only drive this team to want to get better and it's going to put chips on their shoulders next year, we have those type of players right now, they're just young and learning.

No, I don't think Teddy is the future, but honestly, you get a few impact FA's on defense and OL this offseason, get CMC back healthy, a year for the youngsters to grow and hopefully a normal offseason.... I think Teddy can lead that team to the playoffs and contend as a game manager type QB.

The future of the Carolina Panthers is VERY bright right now and games like today will only help in the long run, today was a GREAT day for this franchises future.

A true fan isn't someone who just roots for his team to win, a true fan is the one that roots for what is best for the team.  And this season, what is best is for us to be competitive in games, but have stupid mistakes, teachable mistakes, cost us games to help our draft position and get some immediate impact players early in rounds 1 and 2 next year.

Keep Pounding!

I seriously expected us to win 3-4 games all year, we already got there anything else is gravy.

I stated before that this is a rebuilding season and people should watch for players that could develop into future stars and not worry about this year. we could have won 0 games this year and I would have been ok with it. It’s just a matter of having realistic expectations for the situation we are in.

I am upset because the defensive calls are not changing. We lose anyways, why do we insist on 3 down linemen with no pressure and lose? Until the defensive coaching staff learns from their mistakes I can’t say that I am excited about our future. Talent is one thing, being predictable is another. The talent is not as far back as some on here suggest. We need one CB, one Safety, and a good Mike.

I too am happy with this season. We have outperformed what I anticipated and are right in line to finish in the 5-11/6-10 final season record that most anticipated. Much like the Hornets were, we've been exciting, at times explosive, fun and frustrating.... all while not having CMC.

This year was all about evaluation, learning and evolving.

I also feel like the coaching staff is in the same boat. They are going to need to evolve and learn from their mistakes and competition, which have been plentiful of late. They are all (for the most part) transitioning from the college game to the NFL as well as the players.

We are already set up for long-term success in the NFCS and will be a force to be reckoned with in a couple of years.

Just now, Mr. Scot said:

I think everybody knew this was a rebuilding year.

With that said, losing sucks.

Losing sucks when you want to win... but honestly, at this point in the season, do you really WANT to win?

I want us to play well and lose games due to teachable mistakes.

There is a huge difference between the quality of players you get when you have say the 6th pick in the draft compared to the 15th.

The 15th pick in the draft can absolutely be a difference maker and be a long term high end starter.  But with the 6th pick you could get a franchise player at a position of need who will make an impact from day 1.

I'm not only okay with losing, but I WANT to lose if we're talking about a potential 10 year pro bowl level starter with that first rounder.

Some people may call that being a bad fan, but I think being able to stomach losses because you know it's what is most helpful to eventually winning a Super Bowl makes you a better fan than wanting fleeting happiness for a win in a losing season.

    • Just because we made a bad trade and selected the wrong QB does not mean we should double triple and quadruple down on a QB who is currently for this season 35th in passing yards 36th in touchdowns 39th in yards per attempt 40th in yards per game 39th in completion % and 42nd in passer rating. In this league you need not only a really good QB but it pays dividends to have a good backup plan in place. Why would you or anyone else be against us having a real legitimate insurance policy this go around instead of a washed up Andy Dalton and an afterthought like Jack Plummer? It sounds to me like some of you are only invested in catering to one player because you want to salvage the trade instead of doing what is best for the whole team long term. Bryce Young does not carry that level of sway. That's all there is to it.
    • I honestly do wonder how much of an impact his breakup with his GF had on thing First two weeks like you said he looked depressed. Gets a month to get over it and comes back a completely new person
    • Man whether it's the Panthers or the Hornets it's crazy how many foolish talking heads there are in the local media. I just unsubscribed from locked on Hornets. Doug Branson with his cheesy mustache is an absolute clown especially when his partner isn't on. Talking about trading LaMelo because he can't win basketball games by himself with no semblance whatsoever of a legitimate Center. These YouTube personalities will say anything for a damn click.
