Seriously, it's time to give Walker an honest look

Let’s not forget those two awful ints he threw last week

walker is not the answer

I'm not saying he is the answer but a couple of rookie mistakes should not hinder what he can bring to this team.

The pass up the sideline to Anderson was under thrown.  If TB had the arm strength, like PJ, to throw the ball further up the sideline. Anderson runs past the defender and walks in for a TD.  Vilma tried to say he was throwing it to his back shoulder when in fact he under threw him.

Teddy is terrible at time management too.  90% of the time he lets the clock go down to zero.  This gives the defense a running start.  I was huge on the 2nd to last drive.  He waited until zero. The LB had a running start and bust up the run for a 3 yd loss.   This happens over and over again.  If a defender knows we're down to 1 second he can start running before the ball is snapped.

I think PJ would improve week to week and even if we drafted a QB I'd rather have him at the helm until the Franchise QB is ready to play.

Too many of us have said he can't make to deep throws.  It has to be obvious to Rhule.  I hope they gave him the start because it meant so much for him to play against Minnesota and the Staff figured he might actually ball out.

If it wasn't for the Super Rookie Chinn we would have only scored 3 points in the 2nd half.  A total of 13 points.  TB is not cutting it. IMO

It's purely logic, Scot.

If you're coach, not if you're Rhule, but if you're the head coach - you, do you think Teddy at this point is a franchise QB?

I don't.

Has his decisions and play led to more losses than wins?  Yes.

So we know what we have with him.  The other guy is 1-0 and flashed some impressive tools in his one start despite limited reps during the year and far less starting experience.

Then I ask myself, if the end result 8 times has been losses under Teddy despite the offense having the chance to win or tie on the last drive almost every game outside of Tampa two weeks ago, can the next guy do any worse?  Probably not.

So, I see what the other guys in PJ, and Grier as well, have moving forward.  I think the danger isn't doing worse, the danger is realizing they committed 60+ million to a guy who would be outplayed or equaled by his backups.

Rhule LITERALLY had Walker as his QB for 4 years at Temple. He knows exactly what he's got in him.

I always thought the guy that replaced Newton was in for a rough ride with this cultish fan-base, but even I underestimated how badly he'd be treated.

The reason we're 4-8 isn't because of Bridgewater. It's because the defence failed to force a punt for nearly 8 quarters (it might actually have been two full games, I don't have time to check). Thankfully the young players are talented, but when supplemented by people like Boston, Thompson, Whitehead et al and when your #1 CB was discarded by the Eagles you're always going to have a poor unit.

Bridgewater isn't a Franchise QB, there's only like 5 of those around the league. He's evidently not a Top 15 QB either. However, he fits Brady's system and he's a fine place holder while we retool this godawful roster. I understand his style of play grates the Sexy Rexy crowd, but that's who he is.

Talk of him being a 'good' backup / 'trash' etc is baffling to me. Look around the league - there aren't 20 starting better QBs than him.

If you don't think personnel decisions are influenced by factors other than ability, than I don't know what to tell you.  They've repeatedly said they believe in all of their QBs.  They, coaches and players included, have all be quoted as saying PJ has the strongest arm on the roster.  PJ also was dominating a lesser level of competition in the XFL, yet, given his opportunity to start against the Lions, he was doing much of the same things he did in his XFL games, despite the increased level of competition.  Yes, Rhule had him at Temple and knows who he is, but they also hitched their wagons very publicly to Teddy behind a 60+ million deal to make him the starting QB.  That makes it infinitely harder to bench a guy who may or may not be better than his backups.

I'm not disputing what you're saying about Teddy.  I always thought, at best, he was an average, middle-of-the-pack, game manager, but was ideally suited to be a backup.  I'm just saying the idea that PJ isn't playing because he just couldn't possibly be better is not true.  We don't know.

DITTO!!!  It is a shame that Jeremy Chinn alone scored more points than our offense did against a Vikings defense that had been allowing 33 ppg.

The backup quarterback is always the most popular guy on the roster.

If he gets a chance to play and looks like garbage, what's next? Grier?

I hate to say anyone is a wasted draft pick, especially after only a season and a half in the league. But, so far we have nothing to show for Will Grier, a  3rd round pick (pick #100) in 2019. The fact that  Rhule opted to start PJ Walker over him last week speaks volumes on how he's viewed by the Panther staff.

Will was our 3rd string guy last year going into the season and couldn't beat out undrafted Kyle Allen after Cam got hurt. We lose our #1 and #2 QB's in the offseason and he still entered the season 3rd on the depth chart, losing the #2 spot to a guy who played in a now defunct football league.

A player can't be blamed for where he's chosen in the draft, but the front office didn't do the team any favors with this selection. With all of holes we had coming into the 2019 season we should have been able to get a solid contributor with the 100th pick in the draft.

Rhule does have something of a connection to Grier. His Baylor team took a pounding from Grier and WVU. He talked about that shortly after taking the reins in Charlotte.

I had high hopes for Grier, but it doesn't look like anything's going to happen.
