our schedule is misleading--we should win vs. the Football Club and Saints--possibly Denver.

The Saints have the division all but wrapped up.  We will see no starters

You forget that only the #1 seed gets a bye this year. It will completely depend on that race.

Totally get the reprehension cause we haven't been able to trust a coach in franchise history. I'm throwing blind faith at this one. Imagine if we landed Mahomes.

Yep. Bills traded down with KC when KC took Mahomes. KC gave up their next year’s 1st and I think a couple thirds to move up to 10. The Bills got White and Edmunds, two pro bowl defenders and still the Chiefs have 0 regrets. Houston did the same and I’m pretty sure they are glad they got Watson. Probably the only recent trade they didn’t completely botch.

Sometimes it doesn’t work out but I’d be in favor of trading my next year’s first for a QB we believe to be a true franchise QB.

Dane Brugler's first mock has us taking Justin Fields without trading up.

Well that would make me pretty stoked.  He has Zach Wilson going to Jacksonville.  Given how high they took Bortles, could see them gushing over the BYU product.  The kid looks great but I much prefer Fields.  Would be pretty perfect if Fields is available come pick 5 if Sewell and Parsons are that coveted.

Only thing that makes the scenario seem unlikely to me is Washington likely looking to trade up in the event that Fields does not go 2. You'd have to think they'd be on the phone trying to trade to 3 at that point (Cincinnati could consider trading down esp since their roster is bare, OT is considered deep this year, and other teams trade up for QBs)

If we're targeting QB then this isn't even super important. Chargers 100% aren't taking a QB. Dallas very very likely will not as Jerry seems committed to Dak even if the smart decision is to draft a QB. Yes, teams could trade up to those teams' picks, but that isn't very likely for the 2nd tier of QB in this draft. I think we should be sitting pretty to get Lance or Wilson in the draft, barring some unexpected wins down the stretch here.

Trubisky went 2nd in his draft, and they traded up for him.  This 2nd tier of QBs as you call them are probably better than all of the QBs in some other years.  Teams will always overdraft QBs.

Sewell is the only non-QB I'm fairly certain a team in the top-5 will stay put for, especially if it is Cincinnati.

If Sewell is off of the board I could easily see Chargers and Dallas trading down.

My best guess is QB3 goes in the top-5, so if we are picking 6 I think we are at QB4 which at this points seems to be Lance.

There are 13 teams with the same number or less wins than us, of those only 2 are set at QB (Cincinnati and Chargers), also I think Dallas resigns Dak.

That means there are at least 10 teams who might be willing to trade up, good luck staying put hoping your guy falls to you.  That doesn't even count teams like NE or Bears that have better records than us who might be in the market for a QB.

Lance and Wilson have HUGE concerns, largely due to the pandemic. They are both too big of risks for it to make sense for a team to trade up into the top 5 for them. It's certainly possible but I just don't see it happening. We'll find out in about 5 months. Hopefully we can get our guy/

Here again, Trubisky went 2, one year starter, never underestimate how much teams will reach for a QB.

As a Panthers fan I hope you are right, I'm just a realist though.
