I just don't trust this stat, how exactly do they determine what a pressure is? PFF seems to be quite generous.. for comparison PFR says he has 6.

Its pretty obvious that PFF, PFR, and probably Espn vary somewhat on their criteria of a "pressure".  What's important is that they apply it uniformly across the league.  Also you will find that regardless of the total number that their rankings tend to be very close.

Also fans need worry less about the total and look at where the player is ranked.  If Brown is at 29 pressures on PFR and is ranked 5th, and PFF has him at 40 (?) pressures and ranked 5th, its the same difference, he is a really good player compared to the rest of the league.

Fans have bad habits of comparing their own teams players to some imaginary standard that they have created in their head, instead of to the rest of the league.

Panthers QB Pressures via PFRef

Burns - 29 (5th in NFL)

Obada - 12

Weatherly - 9

Haynes - 8

Kerr, YGM, Brown - 6

Matches much closer with what shows up on film.

and some think Obada is "inconsistent".  Classic example of fans applying bias to their "eye test"

Pass rushing is something that will come later with Brown. When he is in, he commands a good amount of double teams and clogs his running lanes. He is our anchor and helps Burns get free on the outside. Totally worth the pick and seems to be getting better every week,

And they miss him a TON this year.

They are dealing with what we were dealing over the last couple of years, a quick aging defensive roster. That defense is struggling in all phases of the game. Also, their offense doesn’t keep the defense off the field like they did last year.

with the bills, it’s not one player. It’s many.
