DJ Moore with Kyle Allen and Teddy B

I'll say this again,  You build through the draft.  You don't draft a quality player and let him go or trade him for draft picks.  A bunch of rookies aren't going to win you anything.

You build a quality team and do whatever is possible to keep as many of those players as possible.

It makes no sense to trade away our best receiver.  Especially when he got a thumbs up from the greatest Panther receiver EVER.

Something that seems to be a bit forgotten is that Steve Smith had a down year in 2013, the year we cut him in. He wasn't all that special in 2013. Obviously still commanded attention from the defense but I'd probably say DJ has been better this year than Smith in 2013. 2011 and 2012 though? Yeah Smith was better.

What you're forgetting is that Gettleman, bafflingly (as the bar is so low), is a worse GM than Hurney.

I have no idea why it just doesn't feel like he's a star to me when his stats show otherwise.  I just don't feel like I see many 'WOW' plays.
Could also be that we are losing most of these games so the stats get lost.

Either way, I like the guy so this isn't a slight.

two words.

christian. mccaffrey.

on and off the field, mccaffrey gets all the attention.

DJ should have two more years before we start discussing a contract or am I wrong.  He did not get a first round 5 year contract when he signed?

You're not wrong. He still has two more years on his rookie contract. For some reason people on this board continually bring up contract talk way earlier than necessary.

Imagine what he could do with a QB that can get him the ball consistently.

yes. imagine if he had a quarterback with a completion percentage over 72% and the highest qualified percentage in a single season in nfl history by someone not named drew brees. that woud be awesome.

here are some cold stats for people implying that DJ Moore is being held back by Teddy Bridgewater

Catch Percentage Min. 15 Targets:

CMC: 89.5% on 19 targets

Mike Davis: 87.5% on 56 targets

Curtis Samuel: 84.5% on 59 targets

Robby Anderson: 74.7% on 94 targets

Ian Thomas: 66.7% on 16 targets

DJ Moore: 57.5% on 80 targets

That is the full list. 57.5% is not the formula to get more targets. Those are Ted Ginn levels of inconsistency. I love DJ Moore, but let's not make him into something that he's not. He's got the second most targets on the team and those numbers up there tell the story. You throw to Robby Anderson he's going to catch 3 out of 4 of them. You throw to DJ he's going to catch 2 of 4 of them. You take out the incompletions thrown at DJ and Bridgewater is probably sitting at 75% completion percentage on the season, but go off about how TB can't find his targets.

Cold stats that don’t have context. Are these throws into traffic? Are these all catchable passes? What types of routes? We know the CMC and Davis catches are inflated from dump offs and Robbie gets a good portion of them as well. Is DJ running the deeper routes? Is he running those because the other guys are more comfortable running underneath getting easier catches?

Does this include the wide open miss Teddy had of DJ? Does it include the three times he was basically uncovered and would have had an easy 6 if Teddy looked at him?

Context.
