Our DTs

KK is done here or should be. I love that dude but it’s time. Should’ve been cut before this season.

It’s sometimes easy to forget that Burns is only in his second season and making people look foolish. Brown will continue to progress, YGM will get better. We get another high draft pick on the line in 2 or 3 years it has the capacity to rival 2013. Every starter on the dline will be a 1st or 2nd round pick. Extremely talented bunch.

thats why when people say we need to draft all defense again it’s really short sided. We have talent on this defense. They’re just young. Remember the 9ers who kept drafting 1st round dline and it took a couple years to catch up. We should be in a good spot soon. Obviously wouldn’t be opposed to getting a competent linebacker, corner and safety in the next couple of years. But yeah.

Currently the active roster has Brown, Kerr and Roy

Brown will be the anchor of our DTs for years to come.

Kerr I hope we can retain for another season.  I like his attitude and he plays hard and makes plays.

Roy is a rookie but seems to be doing OK. Not a whole lot of stats but he seems OK.

We also use Obada as a rotational DT.

Your thoughts?

Accurate.
keep those two as depth.
the Quinen Williams idea would have been nice.
Jonathan Hankins is a FA if we want a big body to take on blocks and maybe free up brown and the ends. You aren’t getting a pass rush and you aren’t getting younger. Just a big fat dude to take up space.

I think I’d rather see us draft Jay Tufele. Maybe in the second but definitely if he is there in the third. With OT, OG, C, LB, DT, QB, CB, S, TE  basically all being needs, we really need to see what we have with some of our depth guys and see where we can plug in bodies from FA. Sitting Whitehead last week was a good move in that regard. S, G, and DT also seem like positions that can be filled via FA but I’d still jump at the opportunity to draft one if if the right guy falls to us.

Wouldn’t mind revisiting a trade for Quinen Williams in the offseason. The Jets may be willing to part with him for a 3rd and a later round pick.

Wonder if KK would renegotiate his contract.  His contract is so team unfriendly that it's almost a certainty that he's going to be waived.

Why the heck would we do that again? Already restructured so Marty decided to waste $13M more on him this year. He wasn’t even good when he played. He’s done and not cheap, there is no reason we should even try to keep him.

Kerr has been surprisingly good, but D Brown has flashed more consistently in my view.

I think Kerr has played better overall, but he doesn't have the potential that Brown does. Brown is also a rookie and is gonna get beat a fair amount. Kerr is a multi-year vet, so I would expect he is way ahead in the learning curve.
