Next year... playoffs and an excited fan base.

We will NOT draft a QB(Teddy and PJ give us at least another year) but help the lines, especially O-line. Personally I think a center in the 1st round (Kahlil) for years of stability (inside pressure kills). Need TE, CB badly in FA or draft.

Extend Moton and Samuel. More and Anderson have another year and we don't know the impact of the cap next year or 2022 but I can see them sticking around.

Gone: Whitehead, Paradis, Okung & KK (I'm sad about KK as a really like him, injuries got the best of him).

Staying: Tre, Little, Jackson, Shaq, Burris & Davis (if same/cheaper). No need to make dead cap space and have more holes.

Also: OC Brady stays at least one more year and learns more about being a coach in the NFL. I also think he had a deal with Tepper to stay and help build before jumping ship (IMO).

Boston and Little constitute dead cap and roster holes even if they're healthy and on the active roster.

The why is the only thing that matters if you want to actually get better. Otherwise, we just look at our "top 15" defense and say, "Mission Accomplished." The reality is, this is a bottom 5-10 defense that is overperforming versus the talent level. In truth, the only real "core" defensive members that we have are Brian Burns, Jeremy Chinn, and Shaq Thompson. The rest are a hodgepodge of rentals, journeymen and young players whose future is still in doubt(which some may point out that Chinn could easily be in that lot). We certainly have some promising youth in that mix(Brown, YGM, Jackson, Pride, Roy, etc). Perhaps some of those guys pan out, perhaps not.

Either way, the point of looking at other statistical measures of your defense, is solely to make improvements and adjustments. Otherwise we look at last year's sack totals and say we were "dominant." The truth was quite different from that and changes needed to be made.

I think both of you are right. The why helps you understand where you aren’t great, but ultimately the only stat that matters on defense is how many points you hold other teams to. The goal is to hold teams to 0 or 3 on every drive. As far as comparing to last years stats, again, sacks are nice but we were in the bottom part of the NFL in scoring defense. Like 31st out of 32 teams at giving up points. We are giving up 5 less points a game despite being younger and less talented on defense. Going from 31 to 15 is a hell of a jump. Scoring on offense is more important than yards. Not giving up touchdowns on defense is more important than giving up 70 yard drives and giving up a field goal.

I like this.  I'm not sure about a center in the first, because I think the few notables in this draft will be available to us in the second and maybe later, but regardless, good plan.

But you omitted something obvious, that would be a causal factor on this plan.....Hurney is promoted to PR Director immediately after this season ends (like January 4th).

QB is TB and we sign him to 3 yr extension. PJ kept as backup.

No QB drafted.

1st round is either best OT or MLB. Will be heavy on Def again outside of o line selections.

We sign the following in free agency: TE Jacob Hollister, CB Mike Hilton, S Jalen Mills

What does Chuck win?
