The fact that matters about Whitehead

A shutout is impressive regardless of opponents, especially for a defense with these limitations.  I have no problem giving them props for it - they deserve it.

And I don't think it is a coincidence that Whitehead was out when we did it.  He was always good for some critical mistakes... But that doesn't mean he can't lead in the lockerroom still.  The D just doesn't have the ability to make up for his limitations on the field.

I can agree with that, but I think it's a mistake to form too high an opinion of Jermaine Carter just yet.

After watching the Monday presser the last two weeks, it's clear Rhule knows it's an issue.  He's been asked the last two weeks to basically give an evaluation on Whitehead's season, and he has declined to both times.  In fact, he seemed slightly perturbed with the question yesterday, and said something like, "look, as I told you guys, I'm not going to sit here every week and evaluate a guy's whole season.  Tahir goes out there and is trying to give his best effort every snap, like all of our guys."  He also alluded to Tahir being banged up, so they activated him in case of emergency, but it sure seems like considering everything said and done, they saw the issue and are trying to handle it accordingly with respect to Tahir.

As far as Pride, I think he's developing just fine.  I saw him out there a lot Sunday, and he was holding his own.

Being an upgrade over Whitehead says virtually nothing about a player's potential or fit in the defense, tbh.  But a shutout is a shutout, so hopefully it portends at least decent things.

Nothing personal against, Tahir. It’s only business. He isn’t a very good starting LB. I’m sure he is a great locker room guy and teammate, he is a captain, but what it comes down to is he is a huge liability on defense and he also is unlucky enough to be the guy replacing Luke.

I wish him well but I also hope he isn’t on the team next year.

My whole thread is basically stating how bad you have to be to be the team captain and still get benched. I see now I could've worded it better because people seem to think I'm taking up for him which I can ASSURE you I'm not hahah. I've been screaming for Jermaine to start since week 2.

Last time I checked, his contract is what it is. He doesn't get paid more for being a starter or sitting on the bench. He doesn't get paid more for being a captain or not.

That being said, Carter is the better of the 2.

Like I said, I could've worded it better, I am not an advocate of Whitehead lmfao. I'm saying it shows how bad he is that he's a captain and the first game he gets benched we put up a shutout. I'm saying he should never see the field again.

There was a clear difference with Carter in the game but I can still appreciate the leadership role he plays, especially since our team is so young. I personally think a lot of yall use him to vent about us losing this year in general and he's a good whipping boy, with his cheap one year contract and everything. Please remember he's replaceable:

I love what I see from Bolton when I watched his tape. It would be great if he could fall to us in the 2nd round.

I told this board on more than occasion this offseason: Whitehead's coverage was below average. The thing I wasnt expecting was for his run defense to be so bad. Bad angles, bad discipline - good leader.

Haven't looked at his contract and given coach's reluctance to fire coaches...it may be safe to say Whitehead isn't going anywhere. At worse he'll be backup depth for the rest of his stay.

UNLESS, Rhule gets that question after every presser.
