Trent Scott

He's not as talented or athletic as you'd want in a starting left tackle, but he's got some experience and plays with really solid technique.

Chris Spielman talked a lot yesterday about how Everson Griffen was trying to set him up for a pass rush move and he wasn't taking the bait. That's smart football, and you love having that kind of intelligence in a left tackle.

He might not be a long term solution, but it was a whole lot better than watching Greg Little stand out there looking like he didn't have a clue what he was doing.

Dude! I love the way Spielman talks football on the broadcast. He really knows the game.

I'll stop worrying about it when the guy who made that call isn't in charge anymore.

I do think he was fairly muted this past draft, which was a good thing. The WTH moments of the prior two drafts went away, again nice to see.

When we first signed Trent Scott I was thinking it was the same Scott that was on the o- line a few years ago. I think it was Chris Scott. Totally different dude. Shows what I know.

Blew my mind, I assumed the same as well. Had no idea. He’s only been in the league for two years prior to this year and only started when Okung was hurt, like now SMH.

He could be a nice backup piece since Little has pretty much secured his spot in the dog house and maybe even a release. I mean it’s a Marty special to release a day 2 pick well before his contract is up.

I’d assume whoever that coach was that was familiar with Okung in SD was also familiar with Scott.

Agreed. Griffen had a sack, 5 QB hits, and a TFL the week before, and Scott held him in check. Not too shabby for a 4th stringer.

I feel like we might have a couple of decent depth pieces.

I just wish we had better starters in front of those depth guys.

This really sums it up well. And maybe one of those depth guys can move into a starting position with some coaching/conditioning, but we're going to need some talent at LT and C. Soon. Sooner.

We all look for signs, but a lineman really needs a body of work to gauge his effectiveness.  A bull rushing DE may be no problem, but a speed rusher sends you home to mama.  Everyone is trying to find your weakness, and when they do, you better know theirs.  I sound tough saying that.  Argh.

Schofield is bad , miler is bad, reed is terrible...parodis is bad too

the entire middle of our OL needs to be replaced

I disagree about John Miller being bad, hes been nicked up recently but him + Moton is a good right side. Paradis has been better than 2019 dogshit.... I dont know if hes good this year tho... Reed had a couple good plays has struggled the last few games after playing well. Reed would be a good backup, he can play center too.

You need to measure our players against teams like the Saints and Bucs. Never try to gauge what we have based on a team that has quit on the season like Detroit. Nearly all of our players will look fantastic against Detroit. Some of our Huddle hated players like Little can maul and dominate opposing offensive linemen in the run game, but then a different team will come in and abuse Little. Our offensive line performs differently depending on which team we face which is revealing.

I basically look at how many sacks, pressures, and hits our o-line surrenders that are unrelated to the QB holding the ball too long. Then I like to look at the rushing lanes, if they open at all, for how long, and the over all consistency. The ultimate verdict is that the Saints and Bucs have moved passed us talent wise in the trenches, and that means we have no choice but to upgrade the o-line.

Set aside winning, the o-line is the key to keeping your QB healthy. So the o-line under normal circumstances would have had top priory in our last draft. Why then did we go all defense? I think Rhule and company thought that the defense would surrender too many points too quickly and we'd be forced to pass most of the game, and that would put Teddy in extreme danger no matter who was playing o-line.

We've overall the least talented team in the NFCS. I'd be stunned if we didn't draft at least two offensive linemen. Teddy won't make it through another season with this o-line. By not make it I mean he will suffer a season ending injury.
