PJ Walker vs Taysom Hill

NAS

Recommended Posts

Jury is still out on both but imagine if you had two undrafted QBs competing for the NFC South for the next few years.

Hill played well yesterday to beat the Falcons and Walker showed a live arm yesterday that this offense desperately needs while leading Panthers to victory.

I would love to see Walker develop into an elite QB because he can make all the throws. It could be a pipe dream but it’s what I am holding onto now that our draft position is fugged.

For his first NFL start, PJ was good, but I am not ready to say much more than that.  Fingers crossed, but they like Bridgewater and TB with a good line and TE is not a bad QB.  PJ makes it less likely that we go after a QB this year, based on his performance and the fact that I expect us to be 6-10 or even 7-9 this season. I think we draft OL this season, 2 on days 1 and 2.

Bottom line, i think we should just use the rest of the season as development and evaluation to see what we have and what we don't have. There are unknowns with players we really should look further into in game situations all across the board i believe.

I agree

I think we will see what Rhule is made of and if he will play PJ or show blind loyalty to Teddy to justify the 3 year contract he was given to be the starting QB.

I've said it before and i'll say it again teddy would have put up video game numbers vs. that defense with the way our OL played yesterday. Also PJ had all day to throw, the question is asked what if he was vs. a legit pass rush.

Will Grier will be out of football following the 2021 season. It was an absolute garbage pick in the third round, the player has done nothing, shown nothing and has little future potential as a QB in this league.

PJ Walker showed more yesterday than Grier has in 2 seasons and likely solidified his spot as the #2. And as much praise as you want to heap on the guy, those 2 end-zone picks were terrible. Terrible throws made after terrible decisions. But to think that he and/or Bridgewater are getting this team into the post-season any time.... that's very questionable.

A healthy competition---but either way, I see improving the OL as the most realistic way to improve the qb position this season, especially if we win 6-7 games.  Here is what I liked about PJ's offense--it was faster paced.  I am not sold on PJ yet because Detroit was abysmal yesterday.  That franchise has wasted Stafford's career--he could have been great just about anywhere else.

I don't know how anyone can watch this team and think "Yeah, QB play is the problem".

Bridgewater has been very good this year. Hopefully he takes the next step and becomes excellent. Even if he doesn't he's leagues above Walker as a QB.

Third-round QBs are wasted picks.  LATE third round.

Agree with above posters.  I would LOVE for the Saints to keep Hill as their starting QB after this year.  Hill isn't a good QB.

They won yesterday because the Saints have the best roster in football and it's not really close.  And the Falcons are the Falcons.

Ton of help from the refs too at home like always. I have a feeling next week is gonna be much different in a cold Denver for the saints.

    • If we are going to spend the money anyway, maybe the signing is not as bad as it seems.  Mays outperformed Corbett (before his injury and if you go back to last year, Corbett has been below average) and then Christensen took the job and Mays quickly took it from him and never looked back.  He could use improvement reaching to the next level (LBs) but picking up stunts and blitzes---he was surprisingly good.  Run blocking needs some work, but he is 25.  Corbett, in my view, should be G/C depth and if Mays steps back, he is there.  Mays should start because this team is building for the future and 30 year old players are not building blocks.  We shall see.  That is how I think about it, but there are many factors we do not know. Having said that, I like what Zavala is doing, and I do not want to bring in someone who would take opportunities away from him.  Zavala was really good at RG down the stretch, and in limited duty, was awesome. In fact, we have a guard from the PS who played briefly and did well, but he only played a few plays.  He is 25 and I recall that fans of his former team were upset when we signed him.   Maybe as the backup center only (Corbett).  You need 2 centers to run practices efficiently.  I cannot say enough about the OL coaches on this staff.  What they have done is overshadowed by the Lewis / Hunt signing.  Mays, Ekwonu, Zavala--impressive growth.
