Whitehead did not play a single snap yesterday.

Whitehead did appear as questionable on the injury report, but was listed as active on gameday.

He did not play a single snap against the Lions.

So, is this because of his rib injury or has he been benched?

No whitehead = shutout, is it a coincidence? I think not. Boston still led the team in tackles so we have to be careful here as Carter, Jr had the same amount of tackles as Whitehead did against Tampa. It would be great to see a linebacker with 6 or 7 tackles a game. I miss those days.

I will have much higher regard for this coaching staff if, indeed, he was benched.

I believe those on the field wanted to be on the field the most. Whitehead has been playing like he wants to collect his check and be healthy for his next run at free agency.

I think Shaq called him and others like him out and it paid off. Saw too many players like Whitehead on our All-Star defense last year.

Lets hope it was a benching.

To be fair, Boston actually wrapped up guys yesterday, and so did Shaq a couple times.

But again, perspective, people. It was the Detroit Lions. Who have won 4 games despite having quite possibly the worst head coach in the NFL in Matt Patricia. And, did anyone notice this stat yesterday:

Since Barry Sanders retired after the 1998 season, the Lions have tried 38 different starting running backs over those 22 seasons and all of them combined have not totaled what Sanders ran for over his 10-season career.
