A Dream Come True

"It's crazy because I didn't actual envision this start, my mom did. About a year and a half ago, two years ago, she called me, and she was like 'I had a dream that you were playing with the Panthers.' I was with the Colts still at the time so I'm like 'really? That's weird with me being in Indianapolis at the moment.' And life has just come full circle. Her dream came true. Mine did too today."-P.J. Walker

Good for PJ.  He was fun to watch.  I don't think he will be our starting QB when Teddy can go, but I enjoyed watching him play.

He definitely won't be our starter. That would be hurney basically admitting he made a mistake signing teddy. Something like that may get him axed

I don't know if Hurney has any say in that.

The one question I still have from today though: One minute Teddy was playing, and then another he was inactive. I'd love to know how that played out.

Igo said Tepper, Hurney and Rhule were all in on the decision. I'm not a fan of that. That should be the coach's call. Front office and ownership should stay the hell out.

Still, I can't help wondering if somebody made a decision and then somebody else overrode it. If so, who and why?

I look at it this way.  We gave a guy a chance to be our backup QB today, and he made a statement.

If another guy gets a chance, earns it, give it to him.  But at least today we saw someone who could come into a game over the next few years and at least give us a chance to win.  And that's a good thing.

Truth be told though we already have a solid, consistent backup.

The problem is that he's currently our starter.

backups shouldn't make 20 mill a year.

I'd agree.

For the moment of course, he's our starter. That could easily change next year, and probably should.

I wouldn't say that our quarterback of the future is currently on the roster though.

He absolutely will have a say in it. Rhule apologizes when he gets coaches fired.. He'd not gonna throw hurney under the bus and start PJ. You can't sign a qb to that contract and bench him and keep your job. Hurney knows that

And you'd be wrong. But not the first time on here

Rhule, Brady, etc are all high on Teddy and PJ didn't show anything realistically here that would require intervention by someone.  Teddy's contract is also very clearly a bridge contract so if PJ had been "the answer" he would get a shot.

Rhule has also said that coaches who are only there for X's and O's don't succeed. He wants "control of the program" (per his words).

And speaking in general, not just about Rhule, I hate when front office and ownership get involved in coaching decisions. I don't want Tepper to be Jerry Jones.
