REPORT: Panthers really like potential QB's available in 2021 draft

Wilson or Lance and I'll be completely thrilled about the future of this franchise, though I probably do slightly prefer Wilson. Either way though, since we already have Bridgewater I'd sit whichever QB we may take for a year or two before taking the reigns off of them.

Really?

Yes. I'm a big fan of letting young QBs develop slowly. Of course there are guys that step in and are great from day 1, but I think most young QBs would benefit from letting the game come to them on the bench to start their career. Worked absolute wonders for Rodgers and Mahomes, arguably the 2 best QBs of their generations. This is assuming we aren't in position for Lawrence. He is the only QB in this draft I'd consider starting from day 1, because I do think he's already that pro ready, but even with him I would prefer he sat a year behind Teddy.

Maybe one year. Definitely not two. I don't think you spend a high first round pick on a guy you don't think will be ready until year three.

It's not a super popular opinion and would never happen because the pressure to start the young guy will be immense, but I would consider sitting a Wilson/Lance for 2 years if we need to. It could be well worth it in the long run, and with a guy like that and with a rebuilding team like us, you care way more about 5-15 years down the road than you do trying to win with him in year 1 or 2. Odds are 1 year on the bench would be plenty and then the QB would be ready to go, but if not I wouldn't rush it. Especially if our OL isn't built up by then too.
