Lawrence and the Jets...

Honestly, only a matter of time before the NFL gets a little bit of NBA feel with players basically dictating what teams they want to go to. Obviously harder with the NFL, but I'd be BIG TIME in favor of player empowerment when Trevor Lawrence comes out and says he wants to play for the Panthers.

College nba prospects don’t dictate where they want to go  - at all. You’ve seen that much more with nfl prospects.

Jets hire a credible coach and the entire narrative could change.

The Jets have a tremendous amount of cap space to spend next year, with the reduced salary cap it will be a buyers market, would be really easy to sell the situation as a positive if they add the right coach.

Trevor should seriously think hard about the Jets now after what happened to Joe Burrow on Sunday. Burrow didn’t want to be a jerk. Went back home to play for a terrible team. The Bengals didn’t give Burrow any protections this season. Forcing the kid to throw 40x a game behind a terrible oline. Burrow has a serious injury that could affect his career. Trevor doesn’t need to go play for another poorly run franchise.

ACL and MCL tear.  I think they'll address the O-Line first.

I really felt bad for him but we all know what it is like to see your franchise QB go down.  We've also seen an organization that NEVER put the O-line as a priority.

Bengals and Burrow will be fine and start revamping their oline with the selection of Sewell in round 1. He’s probably the best player in the draft. That’s a franchise cornerstone LT for a decade.

I dunno what I would do if I was Lawrence. Probably stay another year and hope the Jets don’t get the #1 pick next year but goddamn they might.

The irony of the NFL---The most important single position in sports requires talent around him to not only make him effective, but to protect him.  So they more they pay QBs, the less they pay the help around them.

And the worst teams draft the best QBs, hoping one player can help them turn the tide.  And when a 22-year old kid cannot do that, they are shelved or called busts.  Look at the top QBs today--they were not, for the most part, the first or second overall picks.  Brees, Rogers, Brady, Wilson--the guys who have been on top for a long time, were drafted from the second half of the first round to pick 199.  I think the reason is largely on the part that they had a better supporting cast when they got their chances to start.

How many first or second overall picks fared well?  Luck is out of the league--had a rough time behind a bad line. Cam could not reach 30 before his body started shutting down.  Many others never reached their full potentials.  The Panthers need to focus on the OL this year.  Bridgewater is not the answer, but he is not a liability and will be better if protected, CMC returns, and he gets a TE.  Get those pieces and then find your QB.

Teddy’s biggest needs are a LT, a LG, a RG and someone to shout in his ear “DJ IS WIDE fuging OPEN 25 YARDS DOWNFIELD, DO NOT THROW A CHECKDOWN”

i don't usually side with a player in situations like this, but it would be beyond appropriate for him to shun the jets for the blatant tanking and sucking they have committed themselves to in order to manipulate the system of not having a draft lottery. you should not get rewarded for being bad on purpose and you sure as hell aren't fixing an 0-16 team starting with a quarterback change. it's just pointless adversity if there aren't SOME pieces already there that can play. who wants to go from winning every damn game of your high school and college career and then get drafted by a team your college team could probably compete against. it worked out decent enough for eli manning. they said we don't think san diego has what it takes to win a super bowl and they were correct. that decision probably put him in the hall of fame.
